Apologies if I've missed it, but how do you evaluate ECM protection level without knowing the ERP and position of the real-world trigger transmitter?

also if you account for the ship being able to manoeuvre in relation to the drone the bubble can be even smaller

I'd write the check if I had the money, just because my curiosity is insatiable. I'm not a technical person but find this subject fascinating.

This idea was pretty popular this year and I’d never heard of it until 2023. But apparently it’s been around for a while! Were you the first to come up with it? I love it.

As far as I know I was the first, I didn't get it from anyone else. I bought the ornaments over several years, put them out in big glass bowls and vases, then one year decided to hang them in my entranceway on fishing line. it was a small step to decide hey, why not hang them in the shape of a Christmas tree. Easy and fun. Go for it.

i really like your software. I have done similar before but only by walking down range and recording the power at various frequencies using a spectrum analyser and writing down the observed power at each frequency. far too laborious!

Thanks - I did the same at first and found it frustrating, not much in-hand after all the work of setting up and operating equipment, and not so easy to get time on a test range. Real insights can come from playback of recorded spectra in a power vs. range graph, insights that I don't know how to get any other way - even years later by noticing features I didn't know about when the measurements were made. Example: I can see leaves on trees in spectral measurements, and the difference between winter and summer testing; I found that long after the data were recorded. And recently I noticed the "tennis courts" measurements (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGTJl5lvYtyBb8U) have very little temporal noise, so that's more evidence of leaves/side-scatter effects, years later. And the digital recordings can be used for lots of other things, forever. Example: Create a virtual test range, a coax cable lab bench test range, with some limitations. Example: Compare different test ranges around the world for suitability of experiment XYZ. Example: Compare test ranges with similar real-world in-theater data, if it can be obtained. And there's a reason to.

Shawn I hear what you are saying, but alas there is no binary answer. ECM reduces the probability of an RCIED initiation, but the classic counter argument is that if operators know the level of their protection bubble they will bunch up near the ECM and become at increased risk of sniper shots. But you are not wrong, everything you say is correct - this is about narratives and being able to pitch to the appropriate end users into funded programmes to progress technological solutions. You are 100% correct though, innovation from low levels is stifled.
