I dont hatw to break this to you but there was golden days. Back when it was still a game where noemal monsters were heavily uaed and the decks wernt just turbo insane non stop combo i wins. Now ita oretty much who ever goes first wins. The game tanked hard and needs to go bacj to how it was. Whwre youe boss monster was a massive beat stick and having to power it up. Not insane non stop solitare combos. Thats what killed the game. Thats why its becoming less popular and acrually falling out of favor even at card stores.

I was definitely one of those players that used them before I gave up on the archetype

bad take. the Playground Duels ARE the Golden Days. Yu-Gi-Oh! is at its peak when its played casually, the tournaments are trash because the top 64 are more than 50% all running the same cards. yall competitive players are just plain boring

What made Yugioh fun was the fact that you were able to summon your monsters and your rival summons their monsters and you both use strategies to make your best monster on the field strongest so you can win the game. Now the way you play where either you can't even play a turn before you lose a game or you can't even get a card out at all with all of the negates. It really took the fun out of playing the game. That's the reason I stopped playing.

We had golden days, we got blinded by the meta of the cards & not by the golden enjoyment of the Heart Of the Cards

Back then it was “Who has the biggest monster and let’s make them duke it out.” Now every deck is minimal at best with each card being a graduation thesis and somehow playing a single card can fill up your board and dump almost your whole deck into your graveyard. Also, speaking of the graveyard, that was a word that used to scare players. “This card mills 5 cards from your deck” “NO!! MY CARDS” is how it used to be. Now it’s “This card dumps my entire deck into the graveyard and now i activate all of their effects at once to win.”

Except the difference is back then one card was still net one card... Now one card is an auto plus 48 and can build a board of 5 Omni negates, two soft negates, one floodgate, and 3 hand traps and every deck can do it. Back then you still had to DRAW the envoy and the last will/sangan/WOTBF to be ABLE to yata lock. And even with pot of greed, graceful charity, gather your mind, and magician of faith to keep spamming them, it still wasn't easy to get all the pieces.

Just unban Maxx c make it at 3 problem solve

All three sphinx cards also came in a structure deck. They worked better in that deck
