Gravity is an effect not a force !
@paulmichaelfreedman8334Ай бұрын
Yes, but this is not an advanced class. Treating it as a fundamental force works just as well for beginners and makes it a lot easier to understand. In that respect EM and gravity are very similar in that there's a field gradient of which the result is a force. The only difference being that EM is polarised (can also produce repulsion), and Gravity is not (hence the quantum gravity theory assuming that a graviton would have 0 spin). More accurately, Gravity has only negative curvature in our reality, a positive curvature would mean it was bending space back in time, instead of forward. Theories about wormholes that travel to the past make use of positive spacetime curvature, and are exactly that: Theoretical. Nothing of this kind has ever been observed in the cosmos and there aren't even hints of any effects. Although we might one day discover something profound, I still do not think time travel other than what we normally do (1 second per second) is at all possible in this universe, just because it needs CPT reversed matter to work. That stuff only existed (theoretically) in the anti-universe that may have existed before the big bang.

The warping of space-time around a massive object creates the effect of gravity, not "gravitons," which do not exist.
@paulmichaelfreedman8334Ай бұрын
That debate is still open, but evidence indeed points toward them not existing and that it is truly emergent from spacetime curvature (more exact: Curvature and time dilation). Which is not good news for a TOE any time soon.

rather than calling the force associated bosons force carriers (gravitons, W-/+ and Z particles, gluons, and photons), they are concentrations of the waves in the various fields and aren't actually particles. boson 'particles' are homologous entities and conglomerates of 1 particular force while all real particles are mixtures of forces, thus. heterogeneous.
@paulmichaelfreedman8334Ай бұрын
What we observe as particles, is actually the wave function's peak area (roughly, quantum fluctuations and all) where the energy level exceeds what is needed to form such a concentration of energy. Matter is in fact an extremely, super-duper condensed form of bound energy. THE densest form in fact.

@@paulmichaelfreedman8334 and antimatter :)
@paulmichaelfreedman8334Ай бұрын
@@tybeedave I also meant antimatter, because antimatter, fundamentally, is still positive energy. Both matter and antimatter are both "matter", where anti matter is CP reversed compared to normal matter.

@@paulmichaelfreedman8334 yes, they have the same mass and react the same to gravity
@paulmichaelfreedman8334Ай бұрын
@@tybeedave Mass made of negative energy is in fact also time reversed, making it fully CPT symmetric. Some theories predict a universe made of such matter, a twin of our universe, both born at the big bang. Our universe (positive energy) went forward in time, the other (negative energy) progressed backward in time.

Oh it completed the standard model? We don't know a lot about particles. Completing the standard model is a long way off...
