What makes the lore "complicated"? It's not knowing where a piece of information about a past event that happens before the game actually fits to the overarching story that is being told, and also how that information is presented. Lets take, for example, HW2's new teaser and the ending that came with it. The Secret of the Mimic teaser just shows us things that tease what will show up in said game (Hence, the "teaser"), but it also shows and connects the MXES machine to what happens in that game. There's a van and a reused MXES animation, before seeing the van speed off into the darkness. The problem is that we don't know who drives the van, when this happens and what it's supposed to tell us, this because of the connection to SOTM, which happens in 1979, yet we only see the MXES machine in RUIN, the latest game in the story. It makes this ending seem rather confusing, yet also super obvious. It can ne interpreted as Gregory and Vanessa using this van to take the MXES machine to the pizzaplex to make it keep the Mimic at bay. But it's because of that "when" that we don't know if that is the case. We don't even know where the machine is being taken to. That is the reason it is "complicated". Not because it actually is, but because it's far too ambiguous to draw out the simple conclusion it most likely has. Another great example is the Glitchtrap-Burntrap-Mimic debacle. The issue of miscommunication lead Steelwool to completely use these characters in the wrong way, making Burntrap a final villain when he was meant to be something else. But because that is his role now, the story needed to shape itself in a way that makes this mistake make sense, so now Burntrap is a Mimic version. And Glitchtrap is too apparently, despite there not being enough clues that could lead to that conclusion in any of the games leading up to SB or RUIN. The only way you could make this conclusion was by using the books that started coming out after SB released. I'm pretty sure Burntrap being Mimic IS a retcon, while Glitchtrap also being Mimic is more of a clarification than a retcon. All of this fails to address how all of these pieces of information end up connecting with each other seamlessly, and because of that, it got "complicated", when it was supposed to be a lot simpler. Glitchtrap was a corrupted Mimic version that ended up turning into Afton, essentially making him "come back". Burntrap was his new physical body, which came from a Mimic body that had caused a rampage before. Once Glitchtrap is defeated, Burntrap becomes the Mimic we see in RUIN. Lack of communication, ambiguous information, unclear canon, and disjointed information makes this "complicated", even if the result of all of that is a rather simple storyline.

Thanks for commenting and watching !! I totally agree with all your points, especially about the steelwool situation. It's a shame that there was miscommunication there, I'm sure security breach would have been great lore wise had they been given all the information :/ 👍👍

The appeal for FNAF games is the stressful yet scary atmosphere which maintains you focused and somewhat entertained with it: checking vents, winding the music box (FNAF 2), illuminating the animatronics and so on. However, this game has almost all of this, but fails because it doesn't add any new elements that we could consider as "fun", but just plain stress. I think only having one animatronic makes it less striking and more boring, and the hallucinations are the only thing that partly solves this, not completely (for being just that), though. If it had "scrap" versions of the rest of the characters, it would have been even scarier and more interesting to explore (character design and lore-wise) and therefore we wouldn't have criticism towards that aspect of the game.

As someone who played it after all the patches, there's only one main flaw that I have seen. The post game. There's so much to do, but only one save station. This makes the post game turn into a constant cycle of go to a location, go to the entrance to the atrium, go to another location, go to the entrance of the atrium, go to another location . . . It makes the post game feel tedious rather than the fun open world exploration that it was clearly meant to be.
@xerces42015 күн бұрын
Yeah, that makes sense. I haven't played it much since the patches but it was pretty annoying to get through 😔
@periodicgaming515915 күн бұрын
@ I can only imagine how hard it was for people before they added the Atrium's save station. I mean, even closing the game would have lost you all the post game progress you made. Having one save station is certainly better than that, but creates its own problems.

The FNaF series should've really ended at the third game like it was supposed too. Scott Cawthon confirmed this in an interview with Dawko back in 2018 and in said interview Scott Cawthon stated that is was the fan reception toward the third game which is what irked him and so he made the fourth game in order to make another scary game in order to please the FNaF community and that got into the mess we are in today. The story and lore of the first three games definitely isn't perfect but it was at least it was somewhat grounded in terms of its story and lore and didn't become the mess that it is today.
@xerces42017 күн бұрын

There are two problems with FNAF. One is that there are two arcs, the FNAF games 1-4 and Steelwool version which makes FNAF 1-4 both existing and not existing (It is based on FNAF history). 2. The way they improve the lore is by "Shotgun method". Throw a bunch of lore bits, See what audience likes and built it from there. This was unlike Scott's Fnf 1-4 which he has a solid story from start to finish... Until it became popular and he had to continue it and put the ending in the box and lock it never to be opened again (familiar?)
@xerces42018 күн бұрын
Ur so right. Steelwool seemed like a right mess with the lore (not entirely their fault, apparently Scott wasn't communicating properly) but I wish they had something a little more concise! Thanks for watching 🤗🤗

@@xerces420 Unlike books or animes, the writers of those two already have the ending in mind whenever they showed episode 1. Even the creator of One piece knows how his story would end. Fnaf's author, Scott Cawthon, planned to end in Fnaf 4 (if I am not mistaken) but he has to extend since the game picked up momentum during that era) so, after Fnaf 4, they really don't have an ending in mind. That's why it's confusing. Since they don't know the ending, they don't know how to tie everything together to achieve that ending (that doesn't exist yet)

I sometimes think about the recent Game Theory FNAF video about that Choose Your Own Adventure book where the conclusion amounted to the commentator admitting that they have zero answers to parse the irregularities for the new information because while it's cool information, it also doesn't do anything meaningful. I don't watch every Game Theory FNAF video, maybe I missed one that does this, but I feel like it's saying something that Game Theory can't scrounge together any answer to the new information and threw the towel on figuring that out. I'll probably think about your comment on the fanbase "building our own story and not understanding the story". Cause like... yeah, at what point isn't this community doing that by now? With everything that's been coming out, has any of it ACTUALLY gotten us to a point where we can confidently say we can answer these things? Where's the line between something actually real in FNAF and fanfiction of what someone thinks is FNAF. While my problem with the FNAF Storyline amounts to suggesting the dumbest of ideas, FNAF's Storyline is basically like a stack of blocks. Every block is a concept or idea added to this franchise, and to me I feel like at some point they're gonna add a bad block that's gonna make this tower even less stable than it already is, and at some point they'll add a really bad block that's gonna topple the entire tower. This story is gonna get even more unexplainable and ridiculous than what it is now and this theoretical tower is gonna topple eventually when we get more concepts that are even more unanswerable than what's here.
@xerces42018 күн бұрын
@@PhoxphorusKitKat yeah, I totally agree with your point about Game Theory. I'm pretty sure their whole timeline is based on vibes rather than actual evidence. And the block concept makes sense! The Stanley parable to me strikes the perfect balance between being hilarious and disturbing, my favourite example being the route where we find the calm room where the narrator seems to be truly happy and the only way to progress is for you to continually leap off a flight of stairs, the narrator begging for you to stop and the realty setting in that you are slowly and brutally trying to kill yourself just to spite the narrator would make the scene feel disturbing but the pure hilarity of repeatedly surviving the jump and the trek up getting slower and slower each time just kept me laughing

I like your writing and I believe you have a future as a creator, but I'd argue that Stanley Parable is not an analog horror game, it's a comedy game first and foremost. Most would say that it's a pretty funny game, not really call it unnerving
