A CMU alumnus stumbled upon you video. Welcome the admin and the others who want to visit. but please don't expecting too much from us. TH and CM is just a small country with both good and bad things, also good and bad people like every places. expecting too much usually leads to disapointment when things don't come as good as we expected although they might be OK in their own ways. BTS, in case you stay/studied in CM long enough, says, a year, I would recommend you to visit some unique ceremonomies people outside TH rarely know. CMU has 2 traditional and unique ceremonies which practices since the establishment. One is the Train Welcome Ceremony or what we called รับน้องรถไฟ where seniors/alumni would come to BKK and pick freshmen all in every big train stations on the way to the university. A long the way they would try to break the ice between new students, give some advice about the life in the U, etc. This is a bit private. Not officially private but I means it's a bit hard for outsiders to see. However if any of you would love to -- search on YT for "[Official] รับน้องรถไฟ 2562" for an example. Another one is more open. It's called รับน้องขึ้นดอย or CMU Trekking where students esp. freshmen will walked for 12-14 kms. on the road to Wat Prathat Doi Suthep to worship the chedi thhere. There's only one rules: leave no man behind. If you freinds tired, you have to help. If your friend cannot walk, you have to carry them. If your friend is a disability person, you have to push their wheelchair to the top together. You can joy this ceremony as an onlooker (and in fact there are many Thai who do that every year. Plus it might not suit for a child as young as yours since it's very crowded)) It usually held in the second half of each year but you have to search for the annoucement (which they mosty do 1-2 mths prior to the ceremony) If you need to see some samples, again search on YT for CMU Trekking or รับน้องขึ้นดอย. Most of the vids are pretty OK like รับน้องขึ้นดอย มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ 2561 which was made by my gf's former student. There are a lot more on YT and in the net (like "+++ควันหลง "รับน้องขึ้นดอยที่มช" ความประทับใจที่ทำขนลุกตลอดทาง และเปลี่ยนความคิดตลอดไป+++" If you cannot read Thai, just enjoy the pics) Sorry for any typo. Have a good day.
A CMU alumnus's here. The answer is yes. Feel free to do that.

@@tripsamurai Anytime sir. Hope you don't mind if I use this comment to explain more for those who come across this thread but have no idea why tripsamurai asked. About a decade ago there was some group of tourist from some specific country who love to came to CMU. However their visiting caused many problems with the studying/living of CMU members. For example they would eat at the cafe since it's cheap, and it's not just one or two or five which are OK but tens, hence no food left for students whom, like all students around the world, haven't got much money compared to us working ages. They would open the door of a class/office and take the pictures. All of this is happened eventhough the professors/staffs were working and in during classes. You read it right -- during classes :) Hense CMU tried to strict these behaviors and set the tourist shuttle bus (which also benefit their linguistic students since they can practice their languages by being guides) You can take the bus, but you can do solo visit as well. Just don't bother with the sudying -- something I think most of us understand even tourists from that specific country today. Some of them did that because at that time they might not know it's not proper thing to do. That's all.
