Hey Alex! Steven pointed me to this! Wow! This one was at the bottom of your stack, huh? :) Thank you for the review and the mostly nice things. ;) As Steven pointed out, this was early in our career--actually my 2nd ever published book. Seeing that splash on page 3 makes me cringe! LOL Nick, the letterer, had never lettered a comic either, but--at the time--we really thought it fit the style of the art/story. Looking back now, I can absolutely see it is often hard to read. Mitch's pencils/storytelling just got better and better and I think we really jived from 8-12, and his storytelling really became top notch! It's actually NOT a Marvel comic--it was and is a creator owned comic (like a lot of the Aircel/Eternity comics). In fact, we just completed crowdfunding a 4 issue mini-series last year and are getting reading to work on another! Again, thanks for taking the time to review the comic!
@alexturbin044015 күн бұрын
@brolandmann awesome! I hope you don't take my criticisms too hard I 100% know that all the issues I had were due to inexperience. I I really do love your art, we all grow and get better. It's also cool that you get to keep your creations and marvel didn't swallow it up (though a cat and Mouse show on Disney would be epic!)

Hey, Alex! Thanks for the review- I was the inker and cover artist on this book- it was done 34 years ago- we were all at the beginning of our comics careers- Mitch went on to do a lot of work for DC Comics and Dark Horse, and Roland became an editor for Malibu’s Ultraverse line, and has recently started up his own line of comics called Silverline- The veterinarian Demon knew Cat and Mouse from tye first issue, when Mouse brought a wounded Cat into the veterinarian clinic to be cared for- and I know the rebuttal to that- “If that’s so, then why wasn’t it even mentioned once in this issue?” And to that I’ll just have to reiterate that it was 34 years ago and we were all rookies then- we’ve all had lots of on-the-job training since then, that’s for sure-

@stevenbutlerstudios thank you so much for letting us know some of the stuff you did. I did particularly like the covers the most and yeah I could tell most of the things I had issues with were simply from being younger. Were you given the opportunity to do the pencils for the whole book? I'll definitly be reviewing more of these types of books, people really seem to enjoy them.

@MarkFuriniArt oh yeah so many of my favorite artists are the first one I knew. Jrjr is one of my all time favorites because he was the artist foe x men when I started reading. It's an odd thing specific to comics, new creative teams. Almost always when a new creative team takes over a tv show it's a death knell for it. But comics it can be a whole new and sometimes better experience.

Hi first time viewer here. I enjoyed the video and clicked on it out of curiosity to learn more about the comic. In no way am I trying to hate or spread negativity but I think a script would have helped a lot with the video and made everything more cohesive. Overall I liked the video and enjoyed hearing about Mayhem and all. I hope to see more videos from you.

To be fair, Nick Jarvis ripped off every single one of us. We put in a ton of work, before and after this comic’s production. I think we signed 4200 out of the run of 5000, traveling everywhere we could for signings, just to get breadcrumbs in return. Oh, and according to the ballots returned, Gabraal did do the best.

@RyanChurchillAtHome24 күн бұрын
@@alexturbin04401 I think out of that run, he only was left with 500 or so that he could not sell, which is actually pretty good. Nick wasn’t great at paying his artists, but he definitely was a salesman. Every once in a while I’ll spot one here or there. It’s amazing how far they travel. There was one in a comic shop in England that I knew of, and I think the farthest I’ve seen a copy of this travel is to Australia.

It doesn’t exist anymore because the chemicals used are bad for you as I understand. Like anything else I’m sure you can find old stock out there but it’s most likely very expensive but according to Kevin Eastman it always was. Which is why I always wondered why 2 broke struggling artists used it.
