Cook book. It's weird, I can remember a lot of Lee and Liefeld imitators from this era, but very few McFarland imitators despite his popularity. I wonder if his style was harder to imitate.
@alexturbin0440115 күн бұрын
Oh i definitly think so, I'd say lee, liefield, Scott, so many image guys have cool styles but they are very similar. Mcfarlane is a crodlss between that cartoony and serious image style.

Looks very cool love the fish monsters. The secret to the watercolor is using top line watercolor paper hot press for smooth color graduation. It also depends on the watercolor you use. Daniel smith has smooth tones. Holbein is for strength and control. Just trying to help. I would say she is in the good girl category having her being attractive is fine play to your strengths. She's not in the bad girl realm .Just make her have some kindness and warmth should help. Just dont make her overpowered she can accept help to keep her stay human. No captain marvel stuff. The linework is nice you may want to keep it clean but very line weight more to make it pop and contrasting colors to add more depth. Keep up the good work.
@alexturbin0440124 күн бұрын
Thank you very much for the comments, I'll try thicker watercolor paper for sure. I'm still looking for a watercolor thats more clear so I can use it over my linework and i won't have to go over it again in ink.

Aw man, indy comics from the pre-internet era are something so special. I have so many cherished memories from the early 2000's of hunting out used book stores that might have longboxes and finding all these unknown treasures - passion projects by writers and artists who just wanted to tell their stories in ways only they could do. Wonky? Sure. But the spirit is strong.

Yeah and the drive to have them printed no matter what, I don't think any power comics made any money.

I had this so many years ago. The jademan kung fu special were first handed out at comic book conventions to introduce Jademan comics to the public, i saw pictures from those events, Tony wong and his crew were there signing copies and talking about his approach to comic books. I had it so many years ago, i lost my collection over the years. I still have some copies but after Jademan stopped in march 1993 , they never returned like they said they were going to and it was because Tony wong was imprisoned 5 years for fraud. But then in 1999 Image comics helped release a few titles which unfortunately didn't work out between Image and Tony wong. But then we got a lucky break in 2003 and publisher Comicsone released a good number of titles and this time they were in 120 page graphic novel format which i loved but again unfortunately for some reason in 2005, the company went bust and i lost out again. It's been 20 years since and nothing has been translated. I actually lost hope for a time but with the introduction of A.I. and things like chat gpt and manga translators, things have gotten so much better that you can actually translate images (nuances and meanings are okay but still need some work) and now that comic books are moving towards being read online these days instead , i see that these comics will be possible to translate into any language you want eventually and then perhaps one day we can enjoy them once again.

Some points on Hero Sand, hold the mayo: Never have a flying car with wheels still on it - if it's flying, what are the wheels for? I've noticed more than a few UG (or alternative) comics doing this. The more photorealistic the art is, the worse the plotting and dialogue is. Cars in particular are boring, and this thing has like dozens of sleep-inducing car ad-looking panels in it. Terrible trope dept.: Gorgeous model girls are usually found crammed into lousy neighborhoods. Keep dreaming, guys. And please create your own characters - don't rip off Plastic Man or Nick Fury.
