Love this style of content man. Even tho I don't main Jun or King I feel like I learned a lot because most of the points you made applies to every character. I'm currently stuck at garyu with the goal to get to the purple ranks. Main take away for me is to get good at throw breaks, and observing what my opponent is doing more. Cheers

Whoa lol. Well yeah, I could probably get Nina to Tekken King in a Single day myself, and I’ve never played the character 😂. She’s beyond strong, she’s easily top 2 right now. And exceptionally easy to play. Couple that with the fact that yeah, you’ve probably improved a bit since T7. It’s no wonder it was easy to get Tekken king. Might I suggest kazuya, Devil jin, or even Raven as a character. See how long it takes you to hit Tekken king with one of them 😅

Good rule of thumb. With rage art. If someone killed u with it once. Expect them to try and do it again.. no joke. I've won sooo many games just understanding that. Kinda like the same logic when it comes to grabs. If you grab someone. More times then not. They are going to want to grab you right back and so on. Take advantage

@The_Buff_Guy

3,1 into hold df, then at the crest of the crouch dash you roll your thumb to forward. Don’t go to neutral until after rolling from df to f. Then you need a frame of neutral, then hit b2. You should get it. The reason you’re hitting a demon god fist is because you’re hitting b2 at the end of the crouch dash without rolling to forward.

Hey Buff Guy, Lois (Xabaking) here! Thank you for the tough love! I did not know the matchup against Bryan that well, so it was really difficult to know when my turn was (His timings fuck with my head a lot). The succesive mistakes over the first rounds led to me choking during those games, which only made things worse. I checked the replay afterwards and learned a couple of things. Now, thanks to you, I have learned even more! I will focus on spacing and keep working on punishing (but every character is different so it takes time, which does not bother me but its just a fact). I hope I can get to Tekken King when I´m ready, but now I have directions on how to proceed. Thanks for everything and I see you around! It is mandatory to learn alternative combos with B2/df12 (frame perfect) incorporation to rebuild health. These combos when on low health are game changer. In addition: when Heichaci is -2 on block, instead of jabbing its better to side step and go from there. Also ff1+2 should be utilized, its a fast advancing mid, being only -8f on block.

The worst bad habit that beginner players, all the way up to blue ranks have is the reinforcing of bad habits. That might sound redundant, but it isn’t. When most players do something wrong, but they don’t identify it or correct it, so they keep doing it and they end up making that bad habit a preconscious response. At that point, it becomes very difficult to correct. A good example of this is ducking throws. People spend so long without the ability to break consistently that they use ducking as a way to avoid them, so by the time they learn to break, they have the habit of “suspect a throw = hold duck” and it happens before they can think about it, it’s programmed into their preconsciousness. Our goal as players is to program the optimal response so we don’t have to consciously process it, and just in the same way that we can program that optimal response, we can program a bad response just as well. What should come first for you as a player is to be able to identify what optimal play looks like, that way you can actually recognize when you’ve made a mistake and correct it. This should be done as soon as you start to really enjoy the game and become willing to commit to it, because for every match you play without knowing what’s a mistake, you’re going to unwittingly program those mistakes and make them habit. Make no mistake, tekken is a thinking man’s game. Learning is the easy part, programming what you’ve learned is what makes tekken the highest skill ceiling game ever, so get the learning done now, that way you can begin programming as soon as possible.

My biggest bad habit is going on autopilot and just doing every bad habit in the book. Finishing strings for no reason, mashing into their string, fucking up the combos, failing to break even basic throws, and completely ignoring the gameplan in my head and instead using stuff I know is cheap and won't work long term, but will allow me to win the match. Only solution is to really lock in before a match, and stay focused throughout. Once I can't remain focused, it's time for a break.

I'm going to say Dragunov's qcf+4 not being a KD anymore is a nerf instead of a buff. I'd rather eat "just" a mix-up on hit than eat a heat-engaging > wall stun > combo > mix-up. This is coming from a Dragunov main himself.
@The_Buff_Guy
@The_Buff_Guy 8 күн бұрын
@@TwinT22 you still eat the heat engage > wall stun > combo > mixup with qcf4 as it is now. It’s just much easier to apply now in the neutral. It is absolutely a buff. Instead of having to chase the grounded opponent for a mixup who can then tech roll into instant sidestep, you can just force the 50/50 in their face. That’s a buff.
@TwinT22
@TwinT22 8 күн бұрын
@The_Buff_Guy It doesn't wall stun anymore unless you SPEND heat for the heat dash. And isn't one of your complaints that qcf+4 also OTG? That solves the grounded issue, and if they tech, Drag is still plus. Oki + frames + position + free combo damage without spending heat. I stand by what I said.
@The_Buff_Guy
@The_Buff_Guy 8 күн бұрын
You can stand by what you said. It doesn’t make it a nerf. He got buffed whether you want to admit it or not, my friend. I was merely following your rhetoric, but Honestly the way you worded it was awkward. Heat engage into wall stun into combo into mixup. That’s not the exact application of the move. You do it, and it gets blocked. You’re +7 in their face with full crouch mixup at the ready. It hits, you heat engage. It hits in heat without a dash, they take damage, and You’re +8 in their face with full crouch mixup at the ready. It hits in heat with a dash, you launch them. It’s much scarier now than it was before the patch.
@TwinT22
@TwinT22 8 күн бұрын
@@The_Buff_Guy When I say heat engage into wall stun, I'm talking about the heat engager activating heat while at the same time, causing a wall splat. My apologies. Qcf+4 on block, one backdash, and his immediate options whiff. At launch, you were in their face, but not anymore. You have to spend frames to either crouch cancel, or close the distance to make certain options available. On hit, you are in their face now, but previously, you had a wall splat without heat dash, meaning you have a combo, oki, heat, and frame advantage. Sure, now you're in the opponent's face for +8 while on their feet. Now you're guessing what option your opponent will do, but FC df1,4 is 16f so you can rage art out of it. Previously, you lost a lot of health before you get a chance. Now, you only lose damage once before you get a chance. Admittedly, it is more fair now, but I wouldn't call it scary because if qcf+4 put me in rage with my back on the wall, the round isn't over at all.
@The_Buff_Guy
@The_Buff_Guy 7 күн бұрын
@@TwinT22 what if you know your opponent is going to rage art? Then you ws2, which they can’t rage art out of, and you get a full combo. You could never get a potential full launch after a knock down qcf4. We can keep on with the back and forth. But the point is, it’s not a nerf. May not be a buff, either. It’s changed and will have different Utility now. The utility it has is still beyond broken and it’s the main thing keeping dragunov in god tier. It’s gotta go.

In all honesty, as much as I don’t entirely have much of an issue with Dragunov online, it is extremely underwhelming and not fun at all fighting this character in a tournament setting. There’s a guy in my area that wins 90% of the locals out here because he absolutely obliterates everyone with Dragunov. It is quite blatantly obvious how absurdly overpowered Dragunov is and still continues to be 9 patches later. This is basically T7 Launch Leroy all over again but on steroids this time
@noname144able
@noname144able 8 күн бұрын
What I find funny is that the "nerf" to QCF4 is clearly an indication of their stubbornness to try and make Tekken seem like an eSports spectacle and they're worried that it would turn off the competitive scene if they nerfed it too much. But ironically, that same stubbornness is what's turning the pro players away from this game, one by one, Arslan, Kkokoma, Speedkicks, etc. Nobody likes getting forced into mix ups. Sure Tekken has always had that but it wasn't this easy, there used to be more nuance to forcing your opponent to guess in the past games. What the devs need to understand is that aggression doesn't mean easy, forced 50/50s, those are two very completely different things. I would rather get knocked to the ground by QCF4 than be forced into a mix up game by a mashing Dragunov tbh because at least then, I always had options to stand up based on what the Drag does. With this, if I eat it, even when the Drag is in heat, they have the option to either launch me or force a mix up on me, which I think is way too much when the character is already oppressive enough as is...
