I'm getting some of my aurora shots from May in print ready state at the moment so this is useful! The issue I'm running into is that a lot of photographers say to push your exposure up 0.5 to 1 EV to compensate for the darkness of reflected light prints vs backlit screen. But if I do that, the colours lose a lot of their saturation on screen. Did you brighten the images for print at all in these images, as they seem to have come out really well? Definitely will be ordering test prints on more types of paper too now!
@ggoudey-photo5 ай бұрын
To be honest I never use EV compensation when shooting auroras. It could have benefits I suppose. When I edit aurora photos I turn off any lens correction in Lightroom so it actually makes the corners appear darker due to some vignetting but I personally like the vignette effect as it usually makes the aurora POP a bit more. I don’t typically raise highlights or brighten shadows. I do raise exposure a bit, unless the aurora is very bright. What I use most often is are color grading wheels and a touch of dehaze. I believe several other photo editors now have color grading options if you don’t use Lightroom. Color grading is probably most associated with video work but I have found it a very useful tool for all types of photos. Perhaps I will make a video explaining my process of editing Aurora photos. I think getting test prints on different paper types is a very good idea, it’s helped me figure out what looks best for my photos. Have fun on your journey into printing your photos, it’s very rewarding to see them in a tangible form!

Stumbled on this. I look forward to seeing what you have going forward. I am a photographer myself who has lived and traveled all over the world. I shoot old film cameras exsculisvly as I am not a fan of digital, but I appreciate all forms of photography. I am now living in the PNW not far from you and have just started getting out and I know right where you are! I just started shooting out here and there are lots of interesting places to photograph. Opening up my business in Olympia this month. I wish you well with this endeavor. Good luck!

@@CBortlearts Film photography is awesome. Way back when I used to fill up rolls of film from a 35mm Pentax. I’ve definitely embraced the mirrorless technology of the last decade or so. What sort of business are you launching in Olympia?
@CBortlearts5 ай бұрын
@@ggoudey-photo I often have temptaions of returning to digital in a limited capacity but the only one I would use is the Leica Digilux3/Panasonc DMC-L1. The CCD sensors that were used and the film like manual operation were so awesome and they rendered images that were eerily film like to me. I have decided to try and sell my art for the first time after years of shooting film and also scuplting and writing music. I have been told so many times I should be selling my work instead of ginving it away so I decided to go for it, hence my business. This area is a great art community. We shall see. I may open a store front but I'm going online first. There are so many awesome photographers around this area. I love to see the work they do. I'm excited to see yours as you have lived abroad as I have.

@@ggoudey-photo Sorry for the late reply. I finally decided to start a business selling my art as I have been pursuaded by many to do so over the years and Olympia is a good place to try it. I'm starting out online at the moment and will eventually try and find a place downtown. My photography is one part of it, as I also sculpt, draw and write music. I have only sold framed peices off and on over the years. I like that part of it too. I am in the camp of "A good photo belongs on a wall". I never promoted anything before and especially through a KZbin channel, so my hats off to you! Can't wait to see your channel progress. Awesome to see from someone close to home.

I mean to be fair they haven't played bleed for 5 years, and the songs you mentioned (other than immutable stuff) have basically been played constantly in the more recent tours. I wish I could've seen them play bleed last year when I saw them.
@GodlessFiend Жыл бұрын
@@Sasquatch33yeah you do got a point, and 5 yrs no bleed. I mean the reason I said those other songs is to make the SETLIST longer. 2023 is shorter than last yr. A typical meshuggah SETLIST should at least be 1 hr 35-40 mins at most
