David Niven, in his book 'Bring on the Empty Horses', states that he met Sean Flynn and stated that he found it galling that he was meant to have been missing but in fact wasn't - it's clearly stated in his chapter on Errol Flynn? I'm surprised this was never delved into further.

Play stupid games... The hubris of journalists, as we see here, can be fatal. Just because you're wearing a camera doesn't make you a tourist in Disneyland. What an absurdly stupid decision.
@squamish42449 ай бұрын
The white car had been carrying other journalists, and was empty. Sean and Dana planned to be taken prisoner by the Viet Cong, released after some time, and write about their experiences. The VC generally didn't like being interviewed, but neither were they known for harming journalists. Other journalists had been taken prisoner before and released. But the invasion of Cambodia a few weeks later changed the political landscape, and maybe this time the Viet Cong were in a less charitable mood. However, the VC would have still not wanted to be associated directly with the murder of journalists, so the story, pieced together over the decades, is that they were turned over to the Khmer Rouge, possibly after being held captive for 14 months. There are differing stories on how they died - set on fire, beheaded, died of disease, or simply shot.

Never heard of them until I went to see Hall and Oates in Oxford in 1980 where they were the opening act. I was amazed by their performance, and thought, "these guys are going to be big". Unfortunately, the only song I ever heard played on the British radio by them was "Take me to your leader".
