I think one thing comes to mind. The Auxiliaries were no different than paid mercenaries for the British establishment and Winston Churchill and cohorts. Objective given to them was freedom to murder without charge. I am a Christian but I know I am challenged in this regard when I understand that these evil, most evil of people who for money choose to come into my country to chastise as needed and murder as needed my people. To hell with them I say and may Gods justice be their forever graveyard. We Irish did do right, these were not and should never be considered as soldiers, hence the rules of war were never for or should ever have been applied to them. Mercy they never gave and mercy in this world they should never be given. I leave to Gods judgement what is his final settlement on them. He is our almighty and to God I bow my total subservience. God bless the men of Kilmichael.

My dear old dad (Patrick Niall O'Driscoll) was an avid Whiddy lover and spent all holidays there as a kid and was a mine of information about the island.

@Mark Kenny so I learned all I know from an visiting professor the famine did the English allow the Irish to die and not only allowed but took all the livestock and other foodstuffs out of ireland while two thirds of the native irish died of starvation or emigrated or was he lying
@GeorgeFromIrelandReflections4 жыл бұрын
That is a shocking and flagrant lie. Our population doubled 1801-41. How is that genocide? Many of us were saved by aid from GB during the Famine. We received the same welfare benefits as our neighbours in Great Britain. Tenants in Ireland were able to purchase the farms they worked against the wishes of the owners and the government lend the tenants money for that. Per capita government spending in Ireland was higher than in GB when we were all part of the UK. We had a higher life expectancy than Great Britain. We were enthusiastic imperialists. We served the empire in the British Army, the Royal Navy, the colonial service and provided governors-general.
