7/1/18. This was a very good, REAL dusty, gritty, sweaty tv western from one of Bonanza producers, David Dortot. Everything was much more real EXCEPT Victoria. She was always so air conditioned fresh, perfect hair, make-up and clean feminine clothes, cooking gourmet meals, fresh flowers in the arid, barren Az. desert. Ha ha!

This specific production is my absolute favorite BECAUSE of the actors that everyone seems to be trashing. People will diss anything just for the "fun" of it. This show deserves so much more.

I remember this opening for a couple reasons. 1, the song itself. Still think it is one of the best. 2, it was the first network show I watched on the day we got our first color set. Up until this came on, it was just local news shows. Seeing this opening, in COLOR??!! Holy Cow. I remember it as if it happened just this last Friday evening, and it was in 1969.

I haven't seen this show in 40 years but remember Daktari declaring himself as a vegan in one episode and it made an impression on me. Other TV vegans from early 70's period would include Mr Spock and Kwai Chan Caine in Kung Fu.

Most people forget that DAKTARI had been a spin off to Bernhard Grzimek´s Oskar premiered documentary SERENGETI SHALL NOT DIE. Had been a documentation on wild life conservation by the famous German biologist and zoo director. He also had written a several volumnes strong encyclopedia on animals. Many people state that ihis film had raised the conscience of the people world wide. It made the Image of hunters and hunting for itself less fashionable.
