One way around this would be automated ship, with Robots and AI, The Humans would be asleep in a shielded Pod , within a virtual reality of the ship there flying with Aid from the AI and Robots , something like that, I know it's still decades away and we will probably have a Nuclear Ion engine by then and that cuts travel to a few months anytime

Yyyeah I stopped listening at 'photon', which is just literally a light particle. Some, any blinding should be an adequate enough solution to that. What he maybe meant was beta or gamma rays.

I think he's referring to the Metroshka Experiment, although he's got key facts wrong (photons). They found that shielding can increase secondary exposure when high energy particles interact with the shield materials. The interactions can produce neutrons and other radioactive particles.

Cosmic rays consist of Electrons, Neutrons and Ions, not Photons. Metal box shielding like in a microwave oven is a bad idea in space, but can be alleviated with an electromagnetic field generator and existing "plastic" cloths of sufficient density. Also, your water supply is a great shield.

High energy Photons are part of the radiation spectrum like gamma rays, x rays and so on. So for example harmful gamma radiation is essentially high energy photons. Low energy photons that make up visible light are not harmful.

Water absorbs radiation -- and is used in nuclear reactors to contain radiation. Of course many feet of it but still it does absorb radiation. Additionally the gel (which is 90% water) would be useful for micro-meteorites as it could fill in any pierced hole, seal it as well as freeze at the surface of space. So it has several uses. Proof, Sir? Please take a University course on Physics. Even Physics 101. Towards the end of the course are the discussions of reactors and radiation containment. The data you refer to is in that chapter. Restudy as necessary. It is well documented. I myself have walked over the tank pf a nuclear reactor and looked down at the cobalt blue glow of the uranium core. Beautiful but deadly.

There is no such thing as Proof. Even with evidence before someone. No magic words could convince anyone of anything -- unless hypnotized. So don't expect magic words to convince anything. Proof is in the person themselves. Whether they believe or disbelieve (even a Fact) is their choice to make. It comes from within. So believe anything you want. But I take it you've never taken University Physics and not been to a nuclear reactor. Haven't you ever asked youself why the core is in water? Sure to boil water but how you could walk a metal grate above a core with just water between you and it? You're the Proof. Look for yourself. Actually study it -- I have. I studied nuclear phenomenon for years and have several groundbreaking works. But i dont need to convince you of that either. I studied at MIT & Stanford. And have many friends who are physicists. I also know a lot of doctors too as my former Girlfriend is an Oncologist (and ive supported some of her work & research too). I even work with Buzz Aldrin on the design of the Orion spacecraft systems. If i am correct or not, you'll have to decide that for yourself. Either way doesn't concern me -- just you. Education, Understanding & Observation are the key. When someone says "radiation" it could be any of several types so understanding that in the problem is important too. This is your youtube post so we don't need to get in contest here. And I'm not. All the best.

@@LODASMarkets Most radiation shielding is absorbers, especially for photons. Neutrons are a different story as you use hydrogenous material to bounce the neutron around to reduce the energy until it can be absorbed.

That was my first thought, the radiation is probably coming mostly from the suns direction, so have a gyroscopic shield that tracks the sun.
@LoociferZ12 күн бұрын
This is such BS. The ISS is not made of lead-lined modules. No, they use a very light material called polyethylene. You would also have the engines, the bottom of the ship facing the sun, which 100% would block any radiation. People in the ISS are there for up to a year, with being face-first into the sun at times, no rad poisoning. Very little radiation would make it into your ship with it ass facing and full of polyethylene. Please people...don't fall for these people.
