We were told we Could not use our UTVs on the Foothills Pkwy
@AWay2Travel3 ай бұрын
OK, Who told you? I looked it up when we were there and I just googled it again (which I know may or may not mean anything) and found this "Yes, you can ride a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) on the New Foothills Parkway in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. The park has many UTV trails and routes that are self-guided and take you through the backcountry. However, off-roading is not permitted in the Smoky Mountains." But, Rules are subject to change every year, and I would always suggest doing your due dilligence before you ride. But Tennessee does allow street legal - Tagged UTV's on the roadways. You can take from Gatlinburg 321 all the way to the Cataloochie trail and back around across the Blue Ridge Parkway through Smokies, we even passed a couple deputies that were on the side of the road directing traffic on 321 and they waved us on, no big deal. But we are tagged, and wore seatbelts. So we did our due diligence but it doesn't mean I'm not wrong, or that rules haven't changed. My suggestion is call the police department and ask, always do your own research and do what you are comfortable with. But we were not the only UTV on that road, and they also ride "Tail of the Dragon" road - which we did not feel comfortable doing - to many fast vehicles. But we road all over Gatlinburg with out issue. You could also ask one of the rental places, but sometimes they have rules where you can ride there SxS's that are there own rules, not because it's illegal, but maybe against there policy.

People have purchased the lakeside properties and now are charging people $20 just to swim in the lake when it used to be free. The only reason these people are charging the money is so that they can pay off their loans. As soon as their loans are paid off, many of the new property owners are going to completely seal off the area from public access. So this isn't even a place for tourism anymore. If you visit I hope you enjoy it, because I don't think many people will have the opportunity for much longer.
@AWay2Travel3 ай бұрын
I totally understand we are from Florida and that is happening everywhere. We are here on our way to explore Idaho and do some SxS riding. Probably not going swimming… it’s cold here we don’t handle cold water… but it sure is pretty here but I can see all the construction it is obviously being bought up.
@Jennisis423 ай бұрын
Sadly it doesn't look like this anymore. Half of the lake is in Idaho and the other half of it is in Utah. About six years ago, a ton of Californian and Utah people moved up and they have completely trashed and privatized the lake. It's not even worth visiting at this time. People have gotten greedy.
@AWay2Travel3 ай бұрын
I took this today, but much of the lake does have private homes around it. It is a beautiful area but there is a lot of construction that is going on, such a stunning lake.
@Jennisis423 ай бұрын
@@AWay2Travel well since you are there, I would recommend a visit to the hotsprings on the Idaho side of the lake. There is also a cave that you can visit as well on the Utah side. It's a short scenic drive and there are beautiful clear rivers all along that way. I'm sorry for being negative, but I don't want to support these people who are working to privatize the lake. I hope you have alot of fun there, also, if you drive up to Montpellier there is an ice cream shop that sells square ice cream and fudge. I hope you have fun visiting, but I won't be going back there ever again.
