MAD Magazine doing a memorable spoof on DIRTY DANCING. This feature divided into 35 panels and each has a trope underneath that demonstrates why this movie is so pedestrian.

I'm starting to see some of these S&E movie review compilation YT sites that are centered on a theme for the sake of broadened interest, fan theme, etc. Love them all. This one, I noticed that the audio of some of the clips goes off stereo, like at the beginning.

This is why Siskel & Ebert were in a class of their own. They had no problems fightning each other verbally and still respect each other all the time, moving from one review to the next. They were always ready to go into the unscripted battles with each their armour of arguments. There's no wrong or right no matter what each of us thinks, but you are allowed to stand up for your opinion!

I saw Patch Adams in the theater. One of the things I hated most about it, even as a 14-year-old, was that it was bad - not funny or interesting - and it was trying so desperately to be important and touching. It wouldn’t have been so bad if it didn’t take itself so seriously (which is really ironic considering what the story is about).

One of my favorite EBERT Reviews in print. This fan for over 4 decades would like to see much of Ebert and Siskel's movie reviews (and other miscellaneous articles) reprinted in several volumes pblished by the LIBRARY OF AMERICA. (And even Ebert broached the idea of this happening to Pauline Kael). One thing for sure: these nifty volumes would be much lighter and convenient than those annual reviewbooks (Ebert only) that were once put around Christmas time.

Wow, I just realized Kids in the Hall got around being made up entirely of men, no women, by just having all the women characters played by men "in drag." So glad people are actually hiring (at least somewhat more) women comedians these days.

Comedy troupes do drag all the time. It has nothing to do with "sexism". Also not every woman character in both the movie and TV show were played by men.
@kumaranvij
@kumaranvij 4 сағат бұрын
@@MylekHolliday Right, the fact that a comedy troupe was formed of five men and zero women, choosing to play women characters themselves in drag, has nothing to do with sexism. It's just chance. "Sexism" must be put in quotes, because what is "sexism," anyway? Something people make up and cry about just to get attention, basically. By people that hate men. From Wikipedia: The Kids in the Hall is a Canadian sketch comedy TV series that aired for five seasons from 1988 to 1995, and a sixth revival season in 2022, starring the comedy troupe The Kids in the Hall. The troupe, consisting of comedians Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, Bruce McCulloch, and Scott Thompson, appeared as almost all the characters throughout the series, both male and female, and also wrote most of the sketches.

"Home Alone" didn't need a squeal. Why? It was hilarious because the thugs in the first movie had no idea they were up against a child. After that, it's adults against a child, and THAT is wrong.
