Meh. The source of our strength is not military force, it is the economic advantage we have in emerging technologies. 2014 was NOT any driver. The driver was what we did in Persian Gulf I. Most of the benefits of information technology have gone, not into more powerful centralized computers, but into more widely distributed intelligence. This truism of commercial life can be applied to the battlefield with even greater force. The civilian market offers a natural limit to distribution: one person can use but one functioning computer at a time. In the military realm, however, computers can be slaved to sensors and networked together, and there is no natural limit below which sensors cannot find at least some military applications. Thus, the use of intelligent devices on the battlefield has no theoretical lower limit. Several factors suggest that such distribution is not only possible but optimal. The first reason is economic. Until the end of the '70's, doubling the cost of a computer multiplied its power fourfold. Since then, the cost-performance ratio of computers has flipped; it is greater at the lower end than the upper end. Microprocessors deliver more MIP's for the buck than their more sophisticated rivals in the mainframe or supercomputer business. Supercomputers are most cost effective when they string together thousands of microcomputer or workstation microprocessors. Moreover, since economies of scale in manufacturing dominate the market, the most cost-effective micro's are in high-end personal computers. Similar principles apply to other information products. The most cost-effective way to retain images is through film; to display them is through television and computer terminal. Optical media cost-effectiveness is achieved through USB sticks. The most cost-effective hard disk drives are those which go into the high-end microcomputers, etc., .. Second, distributed systems put intelligence where it can be used. For military operations, efficient area-wide coverage becomes important. A hundred pairs of eyes can always find something in the field easiest if they spread around rather than bunch up. Dispersion is also good for localizing and tracking an object. Third, distributed systems are more robust against accidental failure than large ones--with less economic waste. Two independent units working at 90 percent up-time are needed to generate 99 percent availability of at least one-- 100 percent redundant capacity. However, fourteen units with 90 percent up-time will keep 10 units on-line 99 percent of the time--40 percent redundant capacity. The greater the desired reliability, the greater the advantage of distributing capacity into smaller units. Of greater wartime relevance is that one large item is much easier to find than each of a hundred smaller ones. This time, size and numbers work with each other because the one large item usually has a greater signature than each of the smaller ones--small is usually stealthy. This pattern overturns earlier laws of the industrial age. For instance, the quietest subs are the largest; pocket-sized aircraft carriers still cost billions and cannot launch many planes. Heavy space systems get a pound into orbit cheaper than lighter systems; and the Boeing 747 still offers the lowest cost per seat-mile. Auto factories, nuclear plants, oil refineries, cement kilns, and chemical reactors achieved their greatest economies at largest sizes. In general, information technology is most cost-effective at the low end; industrial technology, at the high end. As fundamentally important as the Information Revolution, the dominant technological characteristics of this Information Revolution, (i.e., distributed intelligence and cost-effectiveness by economies of scale through distributing capacity at the low-end), will alter warfare in dramatically fundamental ways.

Yesterday, platforms ruled the conventional battlefield. After Ukraine, however, the large, complex, and the few, will have to yield to the small, simple, and the many. Systems composed of thousands of sensors, emitters, microbots and miniprojectiles, will, in concert, be able to detect, track, target, and land a weapon on any military object large enough to carry a human. This gives rise to two revolutions on the battlefield: pop-up warfare, and the Grid. Revolutions are signaled when the quality-quantity equation tilts decisively in favor of quality. During the run-up to Desert Storm, anxious calculations were made which contrasted Allied with Iraqi counts in manpower, tanks and aircraft. The execution of Desert Storm made it clear that the Iraqis could have fielded two or perhaps five times as many men, tanks, and planes without affecting the outcome. We were on one side of a revolution and they were on the other. Had the Iraqis had our quality capabilities, we would have had to conduct pop-up warfare. Pop-up Warfare. The driver for pop-up warfare is the evolution of precision guided munitions (PGMs) to the point that any object that can be located can be precisely targeted and, more often than not, destroyed. Pop-up warfare--what happens when two militaries with advanced technologies clash--puts a premium on minimizing one's own weapons signatures while amplifying the enemy's. Both sides must learn how to stay hidden most of the time, popping up just briefly to move or shoot, and then receding back into the background by disguising or eliminating their own signatures--and all of this inside of the enemy's precision strike cycle time. Pop-up warfare will evolve into a contest between stealth and anti-stealth, heavily in favor of anti-stealth. Hiders must suppress a bit-stream of information that constitutes their signatures. Seekers attempt to amplify these signals to read them. As information technology advances, so does the ability to amplify bits. No such mechanism favors suppression. Ultimately everything is findable. If nothing else, objects of a certain size have to occupy some space for some time. A virtual web strung across the Persian Gulf, if made fine enough, will eventually catch every missile launcher. Every trend in information technology favors the ability to collect more and more data about a battlefield, knitting a finer and finer grid, and thus capable of catching smaller and stealthier objects than before. The most effective way to spin this net would be from thousands of small objects. Because they piggyback atop commercial technologies they are most cost-effective, they can get much closer to the object being sought, and, best of all, deploy enough of them and they are too cheap to kill. The Grid. Such Grids will be built from thousands of sensors, emitters, and sub-nodes dedicated to the task of collecting every interesting signature and assessing their value and location for targeting purposes. It is unnecessary that any one object be able to sense all emanations. The more capabilities a sensor combines the more expensive they get, and thus the fewer could be used and the easier they would be to track and destroy. It suffices that various specialized single-purpose sensors communicate with each other and with sub-nodes to collectively form a picture of the environment. Cheap disposable emitters, in turn, will illuminate targets, generate confusing signatures, and broadcast local positioning signals for precise targeting. Full GPS capability is not required (and may be frequently jammed) as long as emitters that know where they sit can broadcast relative distances to the other elements of the Grid. Grid weapons will likely resemble today's PGM's and drones. Evolutionary improvements in energy chemicals suggest that the warheads and engines will be smaller, but not so small as to be revolutionary different. They will be capable of extended ranges, 1 meter CEP's, and significant loiter capabilities. The big change at the tip of the spear would be the logic of the seeker--or more precisely, what is left of the seeker. Today PGM's have to find targets on their own. Sometimes they get external help (laser or radar tags); sometimes their path is pre-programmed(e.g., cruise missiles); and sometimes they take advantage of heat signatures or pattern recognition. Each case is a nontrivial computation. Up to eighty percent of a PGM's cost is in the guidance and control, and most of that is the guidance. PGM's operating in a sensor grid, however, can use the latter's intelligence. If the PGM is given exact coordinates by "running lights" in the grid it can get there on its own. The less processing the PGM has to do, the less complex its guidance system, the cheaper it is to make, the more you can make, and they, too, begin to be too cheap to kill

Always stay ahead of your competitors. Technology changes at such a fast pace , planning for the future takes a lot of strategic thinking. What’s new now may not be once a system is built. You want to think 5, 10, 15 years down the road for large projects.

6:45 🆓 fortune I derived today by feeding feral cats - I had 1 can of albacore and a bowl of chow for an estimated 4 cats. I made 6 random sized piles and spread it in a circle and filled the middle in case of invisible cats. No matter who comes, there’s enough to feed everyone without fighting. So if you got more than you need, just pass/leave it to someone else who needs it. If you don’t have enough, great news there’s still more on the way! Sharing is Caring!

you can start by stopping the lowering of the physical testing standards for soy boys and females. stop producing Army advertisements about brenda and her two moms. stop allowing young soldiers to wear their uniform at the same time as making tik tok/social media videos doing stupid degenerate shit that is a security concern as well as disrespectful towards said uniform. stop making "co-ed," or gender integrated barracks where they share locker space and such. They are young, in shape, healthy adults to which their sexual hormones promote stupidity and takes away focus.
