it's not coming... if they would know how to do it, 4;.0 would be already here... they are testing it just to make fake hype for citcon ... don't fall for this marketing trick it's hype about nothing
@Robinblitz9 күн бұрын
If it would be fake, there wouldn't be any progress with each and every playtest. As someone who took part in most of them, there is quite some progress each time. The reason testing happens is so that another 3.18 situation can be avoided.

Serious Question. Does anyone else feel it a little odd, timing wise, that ALL of the progress towards 4.0 in regards to server mesh testing and implementation has been “massive” in a short amount of time? Just seems a little weird that that they’ve FINALLY “figured” out server meshing RIGHT before Citcon. Call me a skeptic or whatever but this just screams bullshit. Either that or it just has to be a coincidence
@Robinblitz9 күн бұрын
Unsure. They did a server meshing test earlier this year which then prompted them to rework the NMQ system into the RMQ system, which takes a lot of time. Since the tests resumed in August, it has mostly been tweaks of said system as well as trying to iron out any server-side crashes before continuing with 4.0 to PTU/LIVE. Mostly to avoid another 3.18 situation, which was unplayable for the first 3-4 months.
@DaringDan9 күн бұрын
I hope your title is correct but going off of CIG in the past near CitizenCon the test was so they could say 4.0 is out when Chris is on stage. I'm stoked they tested it, but last year they released the Pyro jump gates and a year later they're still unusable. All a publicity stunt for CitizenCon along with the F8 sale. This feels like more of the same to me. No shade, just CIG doing CIG things.
@Robinblitz9 күн бұрын
I don't have Evocati access, but from what I heard the 4.0 test went quite well, along with the jump point from Stanton to Pyro and back. It was working pretty well, although kinda hard of a minigame but that can be tweaked.

People have been saying 4.0 is coming this year for about the past 4 years. So at this point, I don't believe any timeline or any promises out of CIG until it's already happened. "we're releasing this soon," doesn't cut it for me anymore.
@Robinblitz29 күн бұрын
I fully get that. Felt that way, too, the past 2 years, but the fact that we're actually actively testing server meshing every week, gives me quite some hope still that we're at least seeing 4.0 in EVO or the PTU branch this year.

There's no need to drop turrets in Production Centers. Land behind it and thats it. In Microtech you can do a Production Center mission(Mercenary) loop without being trespassed. Easy to raise your rep killing Kopions to get jr lv rep that gives the mission in SAKURA GOLDENROD. The loop are 2 missions there, 1 inside and 1 outside. Sakura is a production center that you can go anytime without a mission to loot stuff....you can even store things there in LOCAL using the elevator. bETTER CARRY A 8SCU BOX WHEN DOING THOSE MISSIONS. And ALT 1 to organize your ammo. 01:33:52 on the ground to the right there is a hole(its in your screen...) where you can(inside to the right) do a jump puzzle to get into the storage room of the Security room to get 1 sniper rifle and other stuff.

I think Engineering gameplay needs to be a fun gameplay loop to not be an annoying burden. To be fun it needs to be a enjoying to do in the whole multicrew system. Which means that the multicrew system needs to be fun, rewarding, viable and worth to do ... which is the big elephant in the room. CIG needs to get the ship balancing right. If one or two players in fighters can kill a fully crewed bigger multicrew ship without a sweat, then why using multicrew in the first place, except for "it's a feature that exists".
@RobinblitzАй бұрын
I fully agree with you. It needs to be more than just a feature. What I noticed in the current PU is that it already is incredibly hard to kill a Hammerhead on your own, with two it's possible. What I think the main difference will be with engineering is that components can physically be damaged by ballistic weapons because they can penetrate armor. If say you get shot at in a Hornet by a Hammerhead with ballistic weapons, it will destroy your components, forcing you to back out. But if the Hornet damages components on a Hammerhead, the crew can repair them mid-fight. The Hornet pilot is forced to disengage because he cannot replace or repair his components mid-fight. I think survivability for big ships will go up quite a bit with this patch because you can maintain components mid-battle.

It just looks like a semi good server with desync. Nothing in the video suggests that server meshing is even a thing, let alone a step forward. I'm sorry but there is nothing in your video to demonstrably differentiate between having a good gaming system and CIG having server meshing.
@RobinblitzАй бұрын
I put a timestamp in the comments where the server meshing test starts. It came out of nowhere halfway through my normal stream, so I was a bit taken by surprise. The first part of the test was 1 server, 100 players. After that, they scaled to 3 servers, 500 players. After I ended my stream, they scaled up to 6 servers, 1000 players, but I missed that part sadly.
@john6203Ай бұрын
@@Robinblitz I appreciate that but having to tell people you put a timestamp in when server meshing started would indicate that no noticeable difference was apparent.
@RobinblitzАй бұрын
@@john6203 It's the struggle of KZbin streams sadly. I cannot cut it up into two separate parts as it was a livestream. Halfway through, I edited the title because the server meshing test started (out of nowhere) during the stream. In an attempt to let people know, I've pinned a start time for the server meshing test at the top of the comments to at least let people know who scroll down a little. It's all I can do I'm afraid.
@john6203Ай бұрын
@@Robinblitz I'm not criticizing your video at all, it's good for what it is. However, the much lauded and anticipated server meshing from CIG is indistinguishable against the background of the myriad of broken mechanics and bugs. Before anyone else says this, I know it's an Alpha I've known since 2014 when I first started playing it.
@RobinblitzАй бұрын
@@john6203 It depends. The 500 and 1000 players were not a success, no (maybe for CIG data wise). But when they scaled back to 350 players, it was very much playable and worked really well from what I heard. Currently working on a video about this test and what it (might) mean.
