If you freeze the small bottles before you refill them and fill them directly out of the freezer they will refill back to the full 1lb capacity.

Unless you pull an absolute vacuum on the bottle, their will be some air or propane remaining in the bottle. You can say they their is no pressure in the bottle, but you cannot claim that it has "no air/propane" in the bottle.

Its not air, its propane gas.

Your bottle doesn't fill because of the pressure in the bottle. If you do not have a kitchen scale then just fill till it stops the transfer and if you want to maximize how much you fill the bottle chill it in the freezer for an hour before filling. Use an allen key to relieve pressure then reconnect to the tank and top up. Never put more than 1 lb. of propane in the bottle as you need room in the bottle for the gas to expand or it could become dangerous.

Good video Roy. But you got to get over saying air. No where in the process is air being transferred or being released. It’s either gaseous propane or liquid propane. Good job weighing the final product. Thanks for posting

Two thoughts. 1) Bleeder valve. 2) Chilling little bottle to reduce pressure of gas in little tank.

You might wanna change the 9 volt on your smoke detector:)

You must always hold your tongue out the right side of your mouth or the bottle will never fill completely. Closing your mouth or holding your tongue to the left side of your mouth will not work at all in refilling these tanks. :-) Seriously, use that valve to release some pressure and you can fill the tank all the way to the desired weight.

Would you happen to have the model of the pump and the type of fittings you used. We run on a well pump and whenever the power goes out, so does the water. This would be a pretty good hold over for those cases as I use Inverters and battery banks; for some lamps and small electronics, but don’t have anything that can put out the power needed to get the well pump going.

To get the full pound into it you have to make use of the bleeder valve. Just be sure not to overfill it or it will explode if it gets too warm. Do keep in mind that while refilling them is perfectly legal, transporting refilled ones on federal highways is a felony.
