@alittlesunshinewithjayandbee4 күн бұрын
Actually, this is Phra Somchai. He lives in a small temple just outside Chiang Mai, where he has dedicated his life to helping children in need. Before becoming a monk, he was a teacher, and even now, local kids come to the temple to learn from him. He has a condition called Cushing’s syndrome, which affects his metabolism and causes weight gain, no matter how much he eats or exercises. It doesn’t stop him from waking up at 4 AM every day to meditate and sweep the temple grounds, though. Of course… I just made that up. But it’s a good reminder that there’s always more to someone’s story than what we see in a brief moment. Words matter-let’s use them kindly.

Pretty much the same as living here in Bali as a foreigner, there are many minor things that locals can get away with like riding a motorcycle with no helmet etc, but if you're a foreigner you are much more likely to get stopped and fined for the same thing, many foreigners think it's ok to break some minor laws that they see locals breaking, but in my way of thinking if you're a foreign guest in another country it's like being a guest in someone else's house, you don't just go behaving inpolitely or making a mess or whatever just because the person's who's home it is may be doing it. What I find really disrespectful and actually kind of odd is when you see guys on major streets away from the beach riding or even walking around shopping areas with no shirts on, Indonesians are modest and conservative you never see a local with no shirt on unless he's just outside his house doing something or at the beach swimming, and even at the beach the majority of locals swim with t-shirts on, but you'll often see foreign guys with no shirt walking around shopping and restaurant areas far from the beach or on bikes on busy streets, I don't get how they don't just look around and think "Oops I'm the only person not wearing a shirt (and/or helmet)" and feel self conscious about it, it's either no self awareness or no care or respect about what's considered decency here or something. Many of these people would no doubt be the same people who would be outraged about foreign visitors being disrespectful or unlawful in their home country.

Great video! Exactly what we were looking for! Could you share please your means of transportation? In Bangkok and between cities? How to Book Transport with Child Seat?
@alittlesunshinewithjayandbee5 күн бұрын
Ah thanks so much, that's great to hear 😊 In Bangkok we use Grab. No child seats though, or at least we didn't see the option. Or check the metro lines, they are pretty good as well! When we travel between cities by land, we arrange it at the front desk of our hotel a few days before we leave. It always worked out. We don't book it online. The hotel contacts the companies they have experience with and tell them we need a child seat. These private mini vans have been a very comfortable way to travel for us. When the distance is too long for doing it by car, we go for flying. Not much to say about that. Though we do check safety rating of airline companies. There's like a 7 point scale and it's very easy to find on Google. Hope this helps!

Standing on money will also get you prison time because their money has a picture of the king on it. If someone drops money, even if it's windy, do not stand on it. Also, even if you are being very very honest and you leave a negative review about a service/hotel stay/restaurant/taxi ride etc, their libel laws are so stacked against you that you're almost certain to lose. This makes it almost impossible to read upon honest reviews about what you experience via local information portals. Reputation in Thailand is everything, and damn, do they protect it. The law which many people, Thai and foreign, break every day all the time, is riding motorbike without helmet. If you break this law, mostly the police won't bother you with it. So if the fact that Thailand has one of the worst traffic accident statistics in the world, the fact that motorbike taxi drivers are often reckless and don't care about your safety, while riding on bikes with bald tyres, broken tail lights, rear view mirrors removed, steering with one hand while texting with the other, if those things don't worry you, the go ahead and ride bikes with no helmet.

So regarding the Kid Stuff (or maybe a video idea ;) but please before End of January) 1. What type of clothes should we take for our 1.5 year old? long sleeves,long pants,short sleeves,short pants, sleeping sack, swimming costume etc.) 2. We have a Travel Stroller, A baby Carrier, A butt Carrier, a Basket Carrier on Back(German-Kraxe) what would you recommend we should take with us? 3. Also Our kiddo(mixed kid but rather white than asian) walks now so what kind of shoes shud we take for her Sandals or rather closed shoes (to prevent sunburn) Thanks!

Hi! We're so happy to hear our video's help you with planning your trip! That's awesome. It's sounds like a great itinerary. We can totally imagine a trip with a 1,5yr old raises plenty of questions. We did it when Mia was 1,5yr old as well. To answer your questions: 1) We bring: mostly short pants, short sleeves, tank tops, light dresses. Long pants and long sleeves for the plane. It can get cold. And maybe against mosquitos in the evening. So some pyjamas as well. Swimming costume with long pants and long sleeves. Swimming hat and a sun hat. Bright color (blue is invisible when underwater if something happens). And don't overdo it with the amount of clothes. Fast and affordable laundry is a big perk of Thailand. 2) We only bring a foldable stroller (check for cabin size measurements). That's enough for us. Also we've brought a back carrier before. In some circumstances it was really handy (busy night market) but in the end we hardly used it and it was pretty big to bring. 3) In the shoe department we bring a pair of sneakers, a pair of sandals and water shoes, so they don't slip near the pool. Also they're nice for walking on the beach. Furthermore, if you've arranged cribs at your accommodations, you should get sheets as well. And bring sun cream from home, it's expensive in Thailand. Hope this helps! Have a lot of fun!! 🏖️

This is really just for really small kids who nap during the day or are in a stroller but you can't do this with kids who are a bit older and want to have fun/ be entertained/ not walk alot.
@alittlesunshinewithjayandbeeАй бұрын
I get what you're saying, but we think you can make all these things fun for kids. Temples? Make it an adventure. Play hide an seek. Markets? Adventure time as well. Wander around and be in awe together about how different things are from back home. Try new things to eat and share your experiences. Hikes in nature will be more on the menu when Mia is older. So will waterfalls. Beaches are fun of course and we put in multiple chill days at the pool. But you probably won't find us at the bigger theme parks, water parks and stuff like that.

Thailand can learn a lesson from Singapore's experiences on littering. First, educate Thai people on clean environment. Second, make strict laws on littering in the streets. Third, enforce the laws on littering in the streets. Fourth, hire more staff for cleaning the streets. Fifth, people who litter must go to prison and pay heavy fines. You will notice the same revolutionary change in Thailand as it happened in Singapore. I think Thai people must take responsibility for keeping their country clean. Also, I do not recommend buying cheap street food in Bangkok and other Thai cities. Street food is prepared in unhygienic manner and must be avoided at all cost.
