I do wonder about the last point starting about 53:30 Jesus talks about those who did wondrous things in his name, and yet he tells them "depart from me, I never knew you", as only those who do the will of the father truly love him. It sometimes seems hard to NOT think of God's will as the 'tightrope' in this sense. I'd be interested to know what others think.
@TimothyRandallOrganic4 күн бұрын
Hey Nolan, at 5:30 Erwin starts the origin story of Mosaic. Are you talking about how most christians don't the will of God and don't help others come to know Jesus, or how Erwin was doing the will of God, or ? I resonate with your general question from Mathew 7:23 too, it can sound like it's just us doing the will of God that matters. But how Jesus answers with "I never knew you" gives us a clue of how important relationship is. How are we going to know God's will without knowing him? We must focus on connecting with him. The message that ends on Mat 7:23 mentions the wonderous works they do, which could be "showy" fame producing in those times, prophesy, casting out demons, and mighty works. Compare it to "the Sheep and the Goats" , Mat 25:31-46 the Goats are like the people in Mat 7:23 and the Sheep who recieve their inheritance in the Kingdom are the ones who help the poor, meet needs (very relational). Mat 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
@TimothyRandallOrganic4 күн бұрын
Ah you meant 53:00 next steps/proactivity vs waiting on God. My perspective I shared above still makes sense, aligns with Erwins answer, don't be afraid to do good. I've heard it said God can't direct you if you are not moving.

TBD 30:05 ... I want to bring heaven to earth, not leave earth to get to heaven. 31:18 I grew up very angry ... "can you make those good places ... good again?" once again Aaron intuitively asks an amazing question that draws out amazing wisdom from Erwin. ... "I choose the memories that shape me" 34:57 question has to be short and no story first ... 36:19 go to bed an hour before I ... to get up early.

3:41 ... 3:50 "the Eternal suit" 3 years ago, for a line called "Eternal". I wonder if that's the one I remember during covid in the dessert. That suit was unforgettable.

Best podcast episode that I’ve watched all year 😭 I’ve been watching you guys since the beginning and this episode touched my heart. I felt so seen, heard, and understood when Erwin started sharing about Aaron and what he walked through. I could relate to this. Got me crying at work!!

The pod keeps getting better and better each week 👏🏻 Appreciate you both for being so open, transparent and vulnerable. As a lifelong Christian, raised in the church, I have always struggled with doubts and questions about God and faith. Despite being raised in church, I grew up in a very abusive and toxic household, never knew my biological father. It’s so encouraging to see a Pastor’s son, with an amazing father, could still have similar struggles as I do. I have known many other PK’s but most of them completely turned from the faith or have some muddled ideas about God in their adult life. I really commend Aaron for his personal relationship with Jesus, that is clearly independent of Erwin. ✝️ It’s truly encouraging. You both have made a tremendous impact in my life. God bless and stay safe.

Thank you for "finishing" the thoughts on waiting on God. I've been wondering what your thoughts were for about six years since a message where you said what it isn't. This felt like the what it is side. Loved it!

28:24 discipleship 29:09 why Mosaic? 31:37 five core values … 35:57 41:57 disrespect<->arrogance? 43:29 pastor or father/husband? 🥲 49:03 ... "I work at a mine" Aaron - so true! 50:50 ... to fill in a blank ... we should be more like Jesus 😂😂 It's true though, that Jesus was redirecting and answering questions with other questions. So fascinating.

48:13 The part of the conversation on relational frustration being barometer for your humility… I think I might need the rest of this weekend to chew on that. I just had a really heated argument with my daughter and God has been highlighting humility for me in a lot of different places. Wow! I think this rings true.

YES. Aaron really does have a gift for drawing out his Dad. Case in point: ... 32:59 "where was that (5th core value) based ... where in the Scriptures did you build this ... from?" - that's a great question!

I watch you guys every week (not only here but also at Mosaic) and I woke up this morning...
