Any idea if they will keep the watering hole open when the new sit down restaurant opens? I would hate to lose that venue. Also curious if you know what the structure below the lodge is going to be. Looks like a stage maybe? Thanks for the update!
@rjb_wildlife17 сағат бұрын
The watering hole will still be open after this is done and if you’re referring to the concrete slab with the metal awning that is just for the filtration system for the elephant pools, it might also be a staging area for waste management as well.

Maybe a mixed species takin and panda habitat?
@rjb_wildlife5 күн бұрын
Everything I’ve been told is that the Takin will not be on display in this section due to the nature of the agreement with China. There might be a Takin habitat in the future when Asian Passage potentially goes through its refurb after Elephant Valley however.

Is the restaurant going to be a grab n go style or full service sit-down?

It’s going to be the Safari Parks version of Albert’s at the San Diego Zoo. More of an “up-scale” sit down restaurant with an overview of the new elephant pool.

Are the Elephants off exhibit during construction or can you still see them because I know they have an Elephant viewing area
@rjb_wildlifeАй бұрын
No, they are still out in their main habitat while the second one gets expanded. After the second habitat is done they’ll start renovating the main one. The viewing area that was there doesn’t exist anymore, but there is a temporary viewing area in the meantime.

The original species were great, most of which are still there but the ferrets and prairie dogs were moved out.
@otterlord5906Ай бұрын
@rjb_wildlife the Aplomado falcons were great. Also, it was a prairie dog and porcupine mix. They could make it work with the Ocelot if they combined the two enclosures and did a proper Southwest landscape. The original makeup of Western US/Mexican species was special for a native/North American exhibit.

Wait is the cheetah run back? Was excited when you showed the footage during the opening of your video, but then didn’t say anything about it during the video. When I was there for a tour a month ago I got some good views of the construction and learned some more details. They are also constructing a new safaris boarding and meeting area behind Thorntree Terrace - close to where the old monorail station used to be. This will be nice as the current one is just shoved backstage and isn’t very nice looking.
@rjb_wildlife2 ай бұрын
Cheetah Run isn’t back officially, that was a special thing for volunteers that day. All of the Safari Tours will be centralized in the old monorail station behind thorntree terrace.

Thanks for the update dude! Is the suspension bridge behind elephant the same? Do you know if they still plan to have a new trail from the old WGASA station to elephant?
@rjb_wildlife2 ай бұрын
Thank you for the support! From what I’ve been told the suspension bridge isn’t structurally sound anymore by the old Tiger habitat so it isn’t available to the public. There is space over there for a potential expansion down the line but nothing imminent. There will be a new trail that connects Safari Base Camp to the new Elephant Valley and the old monorail building will serve as the new Safari Tour hub.

Didnt rank Walkabout overall? I wouldnt say the Savanna is much of a recreation considering it was fenced in scrub and gradually added grasses, trees, and irrigation. Honorable mentions: Harris Hawk in Condor Ridge & Sitatunga in Heart of Africa.
