Stringer Bessant made two fantastic albums as this duo and they certainly deserved more recognition. Shame they stopped at two.

SO did Buddy Rich get the high hat trick routine from Joe Morello or did Joe mOrello get the high hat trick routine form Buddy Rich? These were two of the world's greatest drummers!

OK, so there's drummers who make a lot of noise and have impressive kits. But then there's drummers like Joe Morello who don't have monstrous kits and don't need them. Their talent says it all.

There's drummers and there's drummers. Joe Morello was the drummer's drummer. Never heard of a drummer who didn't respect and admire Joe. He had it all and was a gem of a fellow on top of it. The one and only.

This is the best selling jazz song, the most listened to jazz song of all time. Joe was always musical. I like many drummers, and then there is Joe. BTW Buddy Rich almost sold as many of his bus tapes.

Techniek oké, maar dat is te leren .maar op het juiste moment koper of trom kiezen en dat tot een geheel maken met je mede muzikanten, dat maakt hem zo goed.je ten doel stellen van de groep.

I studied with a guy who studied with him for quite a while. Joe--and my teacher--used this fingering technique and a "down-up" approach. I could never master it, but my teacher did, and both of them had these incredible hands.

Morello is THE master! And what's more is that this video was done when he was 83!! No one has the gift, finesse, technique, intuition, or chops that Morello had IMO. RIP Joe!! We miss your incredible talent.

OK - just one more comment. No matter how many times I watch this, I can't keep my eyes off his left foot. This guy is so much more musical and controlled than Buddy Rich ever was. Buddy Rich was like artillery with machine guns and cannons. Joe was always pure music. I would like to be 10% as good as he was. He set the standard. He didn't need the extra drums or cymbals - heck, he didn't even need sticks!!!!

Every time I watch Joe with his small set and a few cymbals blowing away those young rock drummers who are completely surrounded by tons of drums and cymbals, I just smile. Joe has always been a master technician. A good jazz drummer can always play rock. A good rock drummer may be able to play a little jazz.

Joe-by Dick! I mean I knew Bonham was influenced by Morello (& Rich) but not until I started discovering all these you tube videos did I realize how much. Bonzo basically lifted all of his famous solo from JoMo. Now that’s in no way intended to be a knock on him, he is my favorite rock drummer after all but if you’re going to steal @ least be smart enough to steal from 1 of the best right? Rich was great too (obviously) but some of the videos of him are actually painful to watch, the way he’s hunched over the drums like a guy from Notre Dame. I’m guessing he sat way too high to be ergonomically efficient just so his audience could see him better which led to horrible posture behind the kit & his later back & spine problems. IMO Joe was a more musical & tasteful player as many others have commented & come on, that roll between the 1 hand & kick, ridiculous.
