YES, absolutely! some KZbinrs make their Japanese ability their ENTIRE PERSONALITY (WHY? because they are all trying to sell some form of learning app or guide or Patreon), when there are infinite foreigners in Japan at the same level or better. People should not be frustrated by these distractors, and great advice.

Thanks so much for this video! I hope your course has continued to go well!! I'm in my art foundation right now with an offer for fine art at Chelsea in September. I don't think this is what I am looking for out of university, I am no longer even sure if fine art is the route I want to go down. UAL sounds very good though, they seem very supportive, is there a university-wide students union and societies or is it different for each college?

My sister went to Chelsea she loved it even though she has no work now at 59 …..don’t know why she doesn’t use her MA from RCA either. The contacts she would have had …..ugh ??? I have no idea how to network in the arts with influential people and that would be the reason I would go to a good name. I think she likes lying around the pond and is anti social ….I would be on it if it was me. My secondary school had no art discipline so I never had that training to get into foundation arts. At 60 I have been battling with which direction to go so experiment with lots of different mediums and I love it. I work alone at home and learn Spanish, Portuguese and dance. I ve travelled the world and lived in Latin America, exploring dance, carnival and the arts on my own. I want to learn textiles and screen printing to make my own work. I taught myself most stuff and compared to other people my age I am creative, can work out how artists have painted stuff and love exploring the creative arts world. I would go to Chelsea for the networking with amazing tutors of course!

Hi! I know this is far down the line from when you published this video... but am just interested about what oppurtunities there are to work with established artists/organisations throughout the course, as opposed to only "making connections" for after you've graduated? Do projects/roles - external to the uni - come up, where the school advocates for students to get involved, and benefit from? Thanks so much! And great video btw 😊

Hi, this is totally unrelated to this video, but I just watched your "Do I regret studying at Chelsea" video and wanted to ask about the structure of the Foundation Year. So is it the same type of unstructured feel as the Fine Art degree or is it more instructional? I ask this because I wish to attend the Foundation Year in 2023 because I think I lack technical skills- so if it's really not about teaching you how to make art I don't know if it would be a good fit. Hope u can help :)

Your course at UAL sounds exactly the same as the course I’m on now. I think that a lot of people don’t realise that they’re not going to be told what to do. I’ve been looking at so many videos about different university experiences as I’ve been applying for masters courses and it seems that all the people that are dissatisfied didn’t know that they had to initiate the work themselves. A level really doesn’t set you up for uni, it’s not the same

@JosephLosper
@JosephLosper 3 жыл бұрын
Good question! The answer is yes, I should have mentioned that in the video actually. There's always some kind of workshop or seminar going on but they are all optional and we have almost complete freedom in choosing what we want to attend!! There's always something interesting on, but if you don't make any effort, it's very easy to just spend the whole term isolated and not really learning anything 👼🏻

Omg this has been so helpful, I’ve just sent my portfolio off to Chelsea, just some questions, because you don’t have projects, how is your work graded and is your work assessed regularly to track progress?
@JosephLosper
@JosephLosper 3 жыл бұрын
Every year we have basically two units, one for practical work and one for theory. The theory side is usually assessed in some kind of written submission then the practical side is assessed by the work that we make. Every term we will have a crit where we have to present something that we've made and everyone will critique it. We also have exhibitions a couple times a year, in first and second year one of those exhibitions must be somewhere outside of the university that you have organised with a small group of other students and a tutor will go see the show and critique it there. I hope that clarifies that a bit!! Thank you sm for watching my videos 👼🏻

Do you think ist worth it for international Students (22.000£)
@JosephLosper
@JosephLosper 3 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question and one that I think all international students will be thinking right now. Personally I think if the course is going to be completely online then It's not worth it. Even though the tutors are slowly adapting well to delivering the course online, it just isn't a viable substitute for in person teaching because we also really lose that community sense that you get in the studios. I think if COVID wasn't a thing then my answer would be that you have to really consider what is unique about Chelsea like the brand name and the teaching style and then whether or not you are comfortable spending the money for those things. I'm a home student so the financial investment of my going to Chelsea is very different to yours. I would suggest really considering what you would be able to take from Chelsea that you wouldn't be able to take from a school in your home country. I hope that helps a little bit 👼🏻
