This is old ground...there is even the famous joke "he's not an actor, he's a movie star". Sometimes the criticism is well placed, but sometimes it's because the studios were reluctant to change a formula or personality that had proven popular with audiences. I agree with several others, that putting Gregory Peck in this category is absurd. Check out Peck's characters in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Boys from Brazil" You couldn't get two more divergent characters, yet Peck pulls each off to perfection.
