Are you supposed to lubricate the 6138 chrono wheels?

@@BiffTannenBTTF Yes, the wheel should be lubricated. Unfortunately it's not pointed on the Seiko 6138A tech guide. It's on the Seiko 6139A tech guide, the Train Wheel section, page 6 Figure #11 is described the procedure where the lubrication must be applied. Itself the procedure is kinda unsafe and I use the procedure on Seiko 6139A tech guide, page 11, Figure #27 where you have to have assemble Barrel&tTrain Bridge with the Column wheel, the two Coupling levers, Operating Lever Spring and the Chronograph Bridge with two screws. The procedure is for checking the free movement of the 4th wheel with opened clutch. I found it easy to put Möbius 9010 in the gap between the 4th wheel pinion and the center chronograph wheel stem🤓

Yes, only blued steel. Actually the whole set is steel - sec.chrono hand is heat blue and the rest is with gold-plating

@@ویکتوررزنوفUnfortunately the "repair" of a center chronograph wheel is pretty much limited and the success is questionable. Broken clutch spring and/or detached clutch plate are not repairable. Weakened clutch spring theoretically can be deformed within friction specs with an oiler, but yet any additional damage may cause breakage of the spring and destroying the hands set with the dial included later on😢 Pretty much best fix is finding NOS wheel and pray not to cost a kidney and half a liver😬..........

Nice one Orlin, you know you can check the arbor endshake by sharpening pegwood and screwing it into the arbor slightly then lift up and down to feel the endshake?

@@clivejameson9033 That was my original idea, but I had issues with the light and too much pegwood was in the frame😬. It's funny when I make those videos try to talk to my self and later hear what I've said and how it sounds - it's kinda off(ish). Similar with that situation how to show the end-shake and what is the reality up-close and personal🤔

Hello, Thank you for sharing this helpful video! This watch is from the 1980's (closer to the mid-1980's). Lift angle is 42 degrees for this movement calibre. For all Raketa 2623, 2609, 2614, 2628 movement modifications lift angle is 42 degrees. Incorrect value of the lift angle affects the amplitude indicator. Thanks again! --- Cheers from Russia!)

About the lift angle - I do have the old chart and I usually use the correct angles. Let say for now that on the day/night of the recording I was "criminally" lazy and in the rush I used the default settings on my timegraph😁

Thanks for this Orlin! Totally fixed the problem I was having with a 6138 chrono-wheel! From now on, any 6138/9 I service will go through this procedure. The only thing I did differently, is put the assembly in Hexane and in the ultrasonic for 15 minutes instead of just soaking it.

Over 30 years ago my wife and I were at a yard sale 3 doors down from us and I bought a non-working watch for $5.00 and I left it in my dresser drawer until I recently looked into just what I had and why it wasn't working as there was no rotational pressure on the escapement. I am not a watchmaker but after relieving the main spring pressure I carefully removed the crown wheel, ratchet wheel and barrel bridge etc and I was able to very carefully tease the barrel out. What I found was that the watch dial foot securing screw nearest the stem had some time ago left it's hole and became wedged between the outer gear rim of the barrel drum and the main plate. I reassembled the movement and partially wound it and away she went. The watch is a 1964 GUB Glashütte Kaliber 68.4 Automat 25 rubis. I had no idea that this was such a rare bird. Serial number 012025

Nice! Looking forward to the reassembly part!! Why replacing the main plate? Just for the correct stamp? I did not manage to see any significant damage in it ( other than lots of dirt) Are you going to work in the dial as well?

Yes, I'll leave the dial as is. It's still presentable and all original🙂 I have to use different main plate for the correct logo. There are some signs of corrosion and questionable scratches around the winding stem tunnel and in the keyless work too. Also found that the barrel bridge is bent at the barrel upper pivot port, extensive pitting where the crown wheel sits and there is wear on the center wheel port😢 Lucky me I got a lot of donor parts🤓

Yes, but I need to finish my setup for the 2d camera. Actually that one is the worst from the duo 3017's. When I did the clip I noticed the wrong pentagon 1MChZ logo. It should be a diamond one, but I'm lucky to have few spare main plates from donor movements

To be honest have no idea since the watch was to a client😬. The watch was pretty much NOS without any use and the only issue was old, dried mineral watch oil. I can only guess but in that condition would be for at least 250€ or even more🤔

Hi I've been making 6xxx holders as well. I wasn't getting on with my regular holder. I've started making them with a 31mm base to fit hand press. Works well. Cheers. Thanks for sharing
