We are like the Wu Tang Clan... "We're for the Children" :) - - so, despite their poorly planned and horribly executed business, we wanted to give them a few dollars.

$450 for 3000 books?
@rickinquest
@rickinquest 21 күн бұрын
We sold about $2,000 in books at $1 each in a yard sale before we decided to sell the rest of the books (about 12-13 long boxes) for $450 total. In So Cal, it's very common for comic shops like The Comic Bug (in Manhattan Beach) to have "fill a box" sales (lots of modern Marvel, DC and older run books of mainstream characters like Spider-Man, X-Men, Batman, etc.) for what boils down to $0.10 to $0.25 per comic (so in my mind, that sort of voids the hearsay of others saying the buy all / any books at $0.25-$0.50+. Getting rid of the long boxes alleviated the waste of space to store 'em and if an "investment" I'd be better off taking the proceeds and buying one good book or original art than holding onto thousands of books that would take months if not years to sell to maximize profit potential.

I, personally can't hold my breath and wait 'til something I want to happen, won't ever happen, being in the comic business (I used to sell at conventions in the early 1980's, so have nearly 50 years experience), so I treat comics like I would a stock market portfolio and have to establish win goals and loss limits. I'd rather dump a ton of mediocre books for cash or trade and use the proceeds to reset the investing clock and buy something that will go up at a greater pace than sit on stagnant books that either depreciate or follows the rules of "supply and demand" where nobody wants my trash :) so it sits forever

Thank You! I found a good strategy to get rid of books no comic shop would want to buy from you at a "reasonable" price to amp up proceeds first, then bring the remnants to a LCS or donate them.

So you think I need a physical copy of something is totally worthless? You should go to some of the big time auctions where people are paying thousands of dollars for a single comic book. Many of those collectors have two or three PhD’s. What community college did you graduate from?

Just to share some sentiment, I once had a decent size Pokemon Pop collection full of exclusives, limited editions, etc. When I moved, I wanted to clear up some space, so I sold them all, I'd say I got like 80% of my money back, and used it on a new couch. It was worth getting that space back and putting better stuff on my shelves. Like Pops, Beanie Babies, Toys, Cards, and Comics, they are very hard to sell and no one wants to spend the time listed and selling individually. I see some shops listing 1000's of individual trading cards, and wonder how the hell they are making any money. With trading cards, my local store was offering like 15-40% of the comp prices online, which is fair as selling is very time consuming.

Good you can still read anything you want to online for free. Who needs that stuff? Same with video games I have my laptop (a 2014 thinkpad I bought for 150 bucks in 2019) turned into an emulation machine. I have easily 1000 video games downloaded and can play any of them I want no problem. Who needs physical media as long as you have the stuff downloaded and not just saved on some online crap that can be taken from you by a corporation at a moments notice then it's the exact same as having it in physical form. Good for you going from a king midas figure to a free person no longer attached to a bunch of physical objects with no real purpose.I would just make sure you have all the comics you want saved onto an external hard drive thats not attached to the internet and you're totally good.

@TheEnterthedreaming lol calling downloading games that are literally 20 years old and unable to be bought anywhere except used game stores "stealing" you sure are bright aren't you? You're really smart

@@theodorejenkins6066 thanks for the strawman argument. You said, “Good you can still read anything you want to online for free.” Stealing copyrighted works and “reading them for free” is indeed against the law. The video is about comics, your first paragraph is about stealing comics. That’s the topic at hand, not video games. But since you are the one that brought up video games and seem to want to talk about them, it’s also illegal to download 20 year old games you cannot get anymore. A copyright is a legal protection and gives the copyright holder the rights to do with their content as they please. Even if that means you cannot continue playing a game you liked from 20 to 40 years ago. Don’t believe me? Go talk to a copyright lawyer and get back to me.

@TheEnterthedreaming here's an idea. I don't care about breaking the law LOL have fun with that boot in your mouth. I hope the cops appreciate the footjob. The only people that care about breaking laws with no victims are just cowards. Not even the cops care not even the copywrite holders care. You're behaving like SpongeBob in that one episode where he steals a balloon and asks the cops to lock him up and even they laugh at him for being such a scaredy cat. LoL 🐈🐈🐈
@theodorejenkins6066
@theodorejenkins6066 2 ай бұрын
@TheEnterthedreaming you're literally SpongeBob from the episode where even the cops laugh at him for being such a goody two shoes that he asks them to lock him up for stealing a balloon. Also it's not stealing at all even a little bit to download something. Stealing involves taking something from someone else and leaving them without that thing. There are many many many many different studies done that address this concept and explain how people like me would never have paid for the thing in the first place so it's not a lost sale and also people like me often times recommended other people to buy things so we actually increase sales overall a lot of the time. Educate yourself if you're going to get this involved in this topic you should research it more. Your ideas are outdated and wrong.

Instinctually the first emotional flash was to be defense minded and check to see if he was okay, followed by a lecture of the dangers of pushing people unexpectedly over the edge into the pit below and how wrong it was for so many reasons, especially picking g on a younger child and one they don’t even know created less reason for such rough if not violent horseplay.

I co-wrote the commercial script and created the “It’s Pantastic” tagline as well as developed some of the Product’s USP (unique selling positions / propositions) often touted on D2C (direct to consumer) commercials (infomercials). The couce over talent is Bruce Chandler, he’s a professional voice artist.

Stan Lee (born Stan Lieber) dabbled in illustration but found his calling as a writer, where Stan Lee’s brother, Larry Lieber became an accomplished artist, working with his brother Stan at Marvel comics. Stan used to draw simple doodles for fans who knew his storied past for fun, disclosing he’s not an artist but used to like to try to draw. He’s done a lot of sketches over the years, all of similar fun quality.
