Your eight seconds of practice has become my two hours of learning it myself haha. Love the phrasing of your fills and your swing drive on the ride is powerful. I can tell other musicians love working with you, youve a hip style in your playing and I know this from only 8 seconds of your play time haha. Great job

Thank you Noah, lovely to hear that. It's a Pearl Prestige Studio, the kick is 22x16, but it sounds like a 24, doesnt it? It's incredible the sound of those drums in the flesh, the video "almost" does it justice!

@malvessidrums your most very welcome, I spent 25 years chasing that gold ring...worked most years playing cover circuit until '88 when a bass player/guitar/singer I knew through the circuit & I had had enough, went original, wrote non-stop, booked studio time, recorded 3-5 song demos with a book of about 30 songs, I had a day gig at WEA where we secured a manager, sent out press kits to all labels possible & awaited feedback...I'm 68 now, still have my Yamaha Recording Series kit I played on at the end and now shed on my Yamaha e-kit...I remember playing e-kit pads when they first came out, Simmons, Korg and thinking they were a total joke and never last, man, was I wrong! Anyhow, stumbled on your channel and thoroughly enjoy it, your an extremely tasteful, well rounded player as I myself strived to be, not to toot but I can play just about all styles and if you don't do that to become hirable as a player, most guys ought to "want" to do it out of love for the craft of music itself...sorry for getting preachy, stay true to yourself man, if you are going after "the dream" I suggest keeping life in perspective, if it is the plan for your life you'll know soon enough....best wishes and God bless my friend, I'll be listening!

Thanks for the eloquent reply. If you want listen to it in the context on the song. Girl Gone Bad. Or, if you are a player, try and sit down and play it. You'll soon find the meaning of bad ass goes both ways: Sounds MEAN, but it's also a mother%^$£ to lay down.

Girl Gone Bad. That double bass groove is during the guitar solo. To come up with something so perfect and badass it takes tens of thousands of hours of playing to think of it. The first time I heard that was when I was 14 years old and it's stuck in my brain for ever. I play it on drums virtually every time I practice.
@malvessidrums29 күн бұрын
Man we have a lot in common! I also first heard it at 14, and still geek on AVH on a daily basis! It was year 2000, before i turned 15!

@@malvessidrums I was 14 in 1984. I still remember where I was when I first heard Hot for Teacher on cassette tape from my Sony boombox. To hear that way back then was something that you could not believe was being played on drums coming out of the speakers. It was definitely a game changer and stayed with me for the rest of my life. I could barely play anything on drums when I was 14 but I knew Girl Gone Bad and Hot for Teacher were at a level musically that had never been done. I still can't believe how good it sounds to this day.
