We must constantly work at being mindful and trying to live in the moment. Yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises are very helpful. Then we must set our intention on doing something no matter how small. Maybe it's joining a coalition of like-minded people who are fighting for justice, or peace or taking care of others..... Maybe you need to join a political action group.... Do what you can, for as long as you can, for as many people as you can-- and that includes yourselves. But just do something.. do not operate out of fear but try to continue operating out of love. Seek the truth and speak truth. Tap into your higher power... And may you find peace that will get you through the day.... One day at a time.

Something I am doing to build up my spirits is cooking. Today, I'll be making authentic Scotch broth in the crock pot. I really love lamb and barley -- true comfort food in winter. I've got a tiny herb garden growing indoors, and will be transplanting when the weather warms up. Although these things bring joy -- along with the birds that come to the feeder, I often have a profound sense of sadness in my heart.

There was a seat in the Iowa state senate that held a special election in the past week or so. Trump won the sparsely populated, rural diestrict by 21 points in November. The Democrat won this time, by four points -- making up a 25 point swing. That was before the tragic crash in DC. And before the tariffs that Trump promises to put in place. And so I'm getting involved in one of the three special elections to fill vacant US House seats -- two of which are in Florida.

Helping those who will be affected the most with gift baskets and cards for numbers to call. It is my mission to check on those who need comfort and information.
