Use more based and basic shapes and work around them to make the part u want like to make a arm a circle the make a trapezoid or a triangle like shape for the shoulder and the lower arm into a triangle and work around does shape

Tip… study rough anatomy (individually) on hands feet legs head torso arms etc. and then put them together one by one… looking at a skeleton can also help build the frame of a character… after thats done try to use boxes or simple shapes to rough outline the scale and proportions of the figure
