My dad and uncles took part in WWII and Korean war. I grew up with all of the. Living 1 house frome each other during the Cold War. In fear of Atomic war, teachers parents giving instructions where to go how to hide before you get home. As everyone built bunkers and bomb shelter's. Then came Vietnam. My heart weaped for our people fighting to keep our freedom safe. Yet at home everyone was angery filled with hate for our own people. Know they only needed someone to blame. But, my God not our own military. I worked at the VA hospital in a form of giving back for all they were doing for us, remand a few years. Our poor people came home so damaged. We brought them straight home from front lines. Nothing more than field triage. Not like WWI. WWII, Korean war. They were given hospitals to work on then, stay till they could be transported home. Everyday was amazing. I was being thanked daily just for being kind carring, respectful. Really opened my eye to how many so called nice people turned look away from or look down on those disabled or different. When they them self those who shunned others, have nothing to help or aid or offer the world and do not deserve respect. I lost so many friends in that war. Plus more in the wars after. Please keep your hearts open respect show empathy and compation. Not bully or disrespect those whose had a harder different life. So many are brilliant if you simply listen, watch, hear really hear them. Plus what amazing lives and knowledge, experience they can share. Age does not make us old but. Wiser. Everything and one have value. Learn to treat them that way. RIP Thank you for your service and keeping America safe. Free. For all those I was privilege to know and those who I never had a chance to meet. You are still loved and missed. Never forgotten thank you.

@@Operation8Bit its due to recent events - people with ill intentions have attached pro Palestine messages, songs, speeches to this Holiday while outright banning prayers from Chaplains and anyone else. Armastis day is observed the WORLD round I realize you possibly don't understand but it was called WORLD WAR because the whole bloody world was involved long before America decided to show up Late as usual. Whole towns in Britain lost every single adult male. Hence the term Maiden Aunt because there were no men. As a British veteran of 25 years your arrogant claims are both ignorant of the warriors of the WORLD and just plain bloody rude.
@Operation8BitАй бұрын
Thank you for your heartfelt comment. We deeply regret any offense caused by our video on Veterans Day in the United States. It was never our intention to overshadow or disregard the immense sacrifices made by servicemen and women from around the globe during the World Wars, especially those from Britain and other Allied nations. We have a profound respect for the global contributions and the heavy toll these wars took on communities worldwide. There is a follow-up video coming out tomorrow at 11:00 Eastern time that looks at the traditions in other countries, including the UK. Being an American veteran, I'm less familiar with those traditions, and it took us a little longer to pull that one together. We do hope we got the facts right and we would appreciate any feedback that you have.

Where have you been?! Welcome back! Also, the crash was far more complex than described and certainly not caused by ET, as was a popular trash-talk for decades. It's entirely debunked. Also, anyone who actually read the manual for ET found it to actually be far more advanced than other vcs games, despite its flaws. It had an ending, a title screen, a quest that randomized on each play, easter eggs, I could go on! If you knew how to play it, it was actually one of the very best vcs games, even though its designer made it in 5 weeks due to a time crunch. He took it as a challenge. Anyway, RTFM was more common then, but certainly an issue as it is today (as if we even get manuals now).

Can i use dumb terminal with concurrent dos?
@Operation8Bit6 ай бұрын
Back in the day one of the things I used CDos for was for a medical billing system I wrote. We connected 4 Wyse terminals over a serial connections to the PC running the software. It worked, but I remember that there were a lot of setup issues. On the topic of setup issues, if you haven't you may want to check out the companion Nibbles & Bytes video that covers some of the problems we had. Also there is a partner video by our friend Retro Tech Chris where he connects a remoted dumb terminal to our CDos Server. Link to the companion episode: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJCYqYSZqKt-jJY

If it works on a Retron 77, I wonder if it will run on the Atari 2600+ ?, I really wanted one of these back in the day,along with the Starpath Supercharger. A short time later I got a Commodore 64. so, getting any addons for the VCS quickly faded into the background.

Used DR-MultiUser DOS with a serial port expansion board for 16 serial ports and then quite long (expensive) serial cables to connect to the cheapest XTs we could find to run as dumb terminals. And proper graphics support on serial terminals NEVER worked for me, though I did not really try hard truth be said. This was the Database server (build over Clipper/DBase) for the Invoicing and Stocks software my then boss was the main developer for. Can't say enough how much I loved migrating the whole shebang to a Novel Netware 3.12 based server at the time (which was in fact the first network and server fully configured by myself). That said, DR-Multiuser DOS were it not the lack of any Advanced Graphical support was a quite nice solution.

Awesome video! I am going to build one just like yours only using an 08 Mac Mini running catalina as i never really use it anymore and this would bring some excitement back to it. I will also remove the center to make it only as thick as need be so it can be hung in wall or fit nicely on a desk at the size of a regular monitor. Thanks for the ideas! You definitely have a new fan/subscriber today!

I know that the Atari VCS/2600 was originally promoted as an actual computer system in the late 1970s. They published their Basic Programming cartridge that taught a few simplified computer programming commands, but no one could store those games so that they could be played again later. I had sought out for the Spectravideo Computermate, but I had no success at all.

like you I used concurrent DOS for a speciality business application. We started with the 286 version and put 286 Rampage EMS cards into the box for up to 8meg of memory. That was pretty cool back then. We developed our applications in MT Pascal. I got assigned to OS support for the company back then because for some reason...I was too green to see the pain coming. I got to assemble and modify the OS to do things like bring in updated device drivers etc. The assembly took a couple hours and you had no idea if it was going to work. But the pascal development for the drivers for the process control application the company developed was pretty cool to work on. Yea the fun of a first software development job the year was 1988...I also participated in porting a bunch of there stuff to OS/2...yea you can imagine how that worked out...But the President thought with IBM involed that was going to Rock it...yea I moved on pretty quick.

Thanks for this! I found a portable unit at Goodwill for $8 a couple years ago and was amazed that it actually works. I wouldn't care if it only played Asteroids, lol, that was always one of my favorites. Despite the small screen and the control layout being different, it still feels and plays just as familiar as the old 2600 and the joystick. Tons of fun. Now I need to try to load up some more of my old favorite games. Thanks for the help!

Hello, I recently built a commodore pet mini but iam having trouble. I installed GTK3VICE and did everything I had to but now I dont know what to do. I uploaded a rom to pi called c-pet.vsf its basically a commodore pet rom but when I launched my pi and then installed the rom onto it it launched commodore 64 basic v2 instead of commodore pet v4. How can I fix this? I used vice and do i need to use lr-vice? And when I turn my pi on I see commodore 64 then i click on it and there is the rom but it launches the commodore 64 basic 2v. Thanks if you help me!

13:10 composite out systems, AR3220 & AR3230, don't need a firmware update. The composite units work similar to the Portable 2600 flashback. You just properly format a good 1G, 2G or 4G SD card and load your games. The composite output, on big screens, looks blocky, however.

》prof.brunotsouza》From the late 70s to the early 90s, here in Brazil, we had specific (federal) laws which have been established by generals (in that time, we were still ruled by a dictatorship) with the goal of protecting local tech industries and that’s because of it we have such a number of weird, interesting clones from this period: in 1983, right in the middle of Video Games' Crash, our companies started to grow fast, earning a lot of money.
