I love this piece, and about anything by Karl Jenkins. Thanks for sharing it. It would be amazing to be able to perform it.

Fine performance. Except for the mispronunciation of "L'homme" as if the the unemphasized final "e" in l'homme" was "é". Sloppy and not acceptable.

For those who are interested, lyrics of the first part straight from wikipepia: Original French English L’homme armé doibt on doubter. The armed man should be feared. On a fait partout crier Everywhere it has been proclaimed Que chascun se viegne armer That each man shall arm himself D’un haubregon de fer. With a coat of iron mail. L’homme armé doibt on doubter. The armed man should be feared.

Im a little confused as to the positive reactions. I think this performance is rather bad than good. First of all, the orchestra is far too loud (might be due to the recording), furthermore it is wayyyyyy to fast, especially the choral at the end which is also sang way too loud. The brakes between the passages in the choral are far too long and the ritardandos before these brakes are awful. Most importantly, though, the final chord is supposed to be an empty quint, without a third to show how incredibly unstable peace is. I personally don't like the performance at all, but if it makes others happy, so be it.

Perhaps when you become a Conductor/Arranger/Producer you can show the world how it should be done, along with your Banal comments on another performance upload

I'm not sure i can agree with a lot of what you said. As a conductor I think the tempos of the end are perfect, the breaks leaving time for peace to fade. I agree with the final chord.

I still come back to this every now and then. Even learning to appreciate the Muslim call to prayer. His voice is amazingly clear and clarion. Also, the Benedictus is turning up in other people's concerts! Like 2cellos' HAUSER - "Live in Zagreb" FULL Classical Concert on KZbin.

This work takes me and dumps me into the True Reality of Life - I come away humbled. Cannot listen to the Agnus Dei without breaking down. [Saw the world premiere performance in Johannesburg with Sir Karl conducting ...300 piece combined choir! Muezzin was a young local Muslim man - superb timbre of voice. I live in Qatar so I get a "choir' of Muezzin calls from about 8 nearby mosques daily! ]

"The Armed Man" is one of the oldest known songs and should live forever as one of the most haunting. Jenkins has certainly done his bit to preserve it!!

The very title is:'The Armed Man-A Mass for Peace' >>"The piece was commissioned by the Royal Armouries Museum for the Millennium celebrations, to mark the museum's move from London to Leeds, and it was dedicated to victims of the Kosovo crisis" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Armed_Man)

You can't download it as PDF anywhere... but you could buy it from amazon :) the vocal score (just the choir) costs about 25€ (ca. 30 000 KRW), but the full score with orchestra is really expensive, about 85€ (100 000 KRW) :/ you could also buy the piano arrangement (with choir), which also costs about 25€ (30 000 KRW).
