Been having this problem for a couple of months. Tightened the battery in spots, particularly at the positive terminal with a monthlong success, but the problem returned. I will be installing the battery shims today and am curious if this resulted in a long term fix?

dude my room is not big i couldn't choose between klipsch thx-6000 and 5000 i believe thx series sound much better than all rp series i don't like harsh sounds i like neutral sounds some places say 6000 series sounds bright is that true?? I listened to the 5000, they sounded very different from the rp series, there is no harshness, but the 6000 can sound harsh because it is 97 db?? I actually want to buy the 6000 but I don't want them to sound like a traditional Klipsch so I have to be sure what do you think??

I was having the same troubles. I replaced my battery at Orileys. They installed it. Driving home from work the entire car shut down. I honestly though i popped a tire. Called my wife used jumper cables to get the trunk open. (Yes u can apply jumper cables under the hood). Accessed the battery. I realized then the cable clamps were not all the way down on the post. Loosened the clamps persuaded the clamps to go down and made a much better fit. Literally solved all my electrical issues.

I just ran into this problem with my 2015 G80 and it is in high mileage having the same issues. I ended up buying the Shims the only problem is the Positive side won’t completely go down with shim on. It is on and secured but not completely through the terminal. Is it okay if it isn’t completely pushed down?
@tekkenkun
@tekkenkun 4 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for commenting. It may or may not be perfect but as long as you are making enough of a connection using the shims, you should be good to go. I would just check it to see if any vibration has caused it to come loose if that’s the case, you may need different shims. Different may use different thickness of material and construction. Hope this helps!

Fun times - we own a 1999 Maxum 2300 SC and we've loved it. We bought it in 2019 and it just had an engine replacement, so it's been virtually problem-free since we bought it...our costs have mostly been just keeping up on the maintenance, fuel, and storage costs. It's nice to have the cuddy, and every summer we've done long trips down the Mississippi, and overnights on Lake Superior, though we are listing ours for sale next spring and looking for our next, bigger boat. Subscribed to see how your adventure pans out. Happy to answer any questions you may have (ours has the carburated 350) - Happy boating!

Hi. Just read your reply and figured I'd shoot you q question since I'm looking at buying a 1999 2300 SC locally. I'm 6'3 and was wondering if you can stand in the cuddy area? Also, how is it on fuel?....and how many people can you fit on it "comfortably?".. Thanks!
@jesseeastman6649
@jesseeastman6649 10 ай бұрын
@@nupe21911 I'm 5'11 - I am unable to stand in the cuddy, though I can sit comfortably down there. It's not totally uncomfortable, but it is rather small - generally, we don't use the cuddy for anything but storage unless we're actually going to spend the night on it. I would say 5 people is pretty comfortable for an afternoon cruise, much more than that and people start tripping over each other, though I believe the max rated is 10 people...which is possible, but I can't imagine it would be pleasant. It was rare that we would ever have more than six people on it, though. As far as fuel goes, I feel it's pretty good - it's a 75 gallon gas tank, and by my best estimate, we burn about 2 gallons per hour while cruising around 25-30 mph...in my experience, the top speed with the stock aluminum prop is about 45 mph.

I'm a former Mercruiser Master Technician and seeing all that typical corrosion and internal problems brought back memories that will probably give me nightmares tonight ! Never run the engine with the drive trimmed up that high , there are two sets of universal joints in the drive that will be damaged because of the extreme forces put on them at such tight angles , just tryin' to help , keep up on maintenance and enjoy your boat....

Guys I had the same issue with my 2009 3.8 sedan...I was just about to get rid of the car when I figured out the whole Positive connection to battery is absolute crap. Here is the simple solution. 1: unbolt the plastic + terminal and the stud bolted to the car body. 2: Purchase a 1 ft long batter cable from the Auto Store. 3: Bolt the terminal of the new cable onto battery just as you would any car. 4: take the 1/4" terminal on the other side of the new cable and bolt it to the nut/bolt on the OLD crap cable - the part that USED to go the the + battery terminal. Take that old nut off, and bolt the cable to that bolt stud. YOu may have to bend that end of the cable to fit - you can also trim some plastic out of the way. 5: Now take a small piece of cardboard or styrafoam, whatever to insulate the battery terminal from the old connection housing. 6: Bolt the Old housing to the body. 6: Now you have a car that runs! IN other words you are installing a bypass cable. The old fashioned die cast terminals and cable are 1000% better than that contraption they over-engineered horribly.

Thought I ahead the problem fixed but it’s back again so l looked it up on Goggle because the dealerships don’t know anything. I have a 2013 Genesis which has had this same issue for years. The 2013 trunk pan and battery connections are identical to the 2015 so everything in your video is identical to my own setup. I've pulled the battery, replaced it with a better battery and reconnected it several times and occasionally I've been able to start it. I've also had my car intermittently reset between uses (transmission forgets when to shift, engine runs like I'd just pulled the battery and itt's re-learning it's idle and the infotainment setup all reboots, etc) I've never even considered it was the massive pile of crap hanging off the positive post. It's currently -40C here and the car is parked for the winter while the old Accent is on active duty but I'll be trying the post shims right away as everything you showed is exactly the issue I've been running into. Thanks for making a concise and clear video, not something typical on KZbin.
