Thank you for the kind words by the Buzzards Bay Coalition, on managing invasive plant species, specifically phragmites, in this coastal pond ecosystem. This collaboration has been very successful and we are extremely happy to see the results... a thriving native plant community that is supporting a diverse array of wildlife, from insects to birds, mammals, and aquatic life. Also, such a terrific and enjoyable video to enjoy by Craig Gibson. Thank You for posting this.

Not only an amazing video of ospreys, but also of a thriving coastal pond which has benefited from a decade of focused native plant restoration. So many wetlands like this along Buzzards Bay are impacted by monoculture stands of Phragmites (Common Reed). Here at Gunning Point, the Buzzards Bay Coalition partnered with the surrounding neighbors and the Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries to remove phragmites and identify low cost and low effort techniques to keep it out of sensitive areas like this. Today, it takes just one member of our staff a single visit each year to individually remove new shoots. Its so heartening to see the lush, diverse plant community in this video that supports habitat for fish and wildlife.

I'd like to find the hummingbird nest in our yard. We faithfully keep our nectar feeders up until September. Always a treat to watch them.
