It’s me hi! I’m the rare type where I never experienced anything visual until my late 40s. I haven’t been able to work successfully in 5 years now. The auras are all face, arm, leg, slurred speech since my late 20s. I don’t have the severe headache anymore as long as I avoid all modern lighting. Tinnitus has been permanent for 3 years. If the confusion is the sign of things to come, I’m going to need a caregiver. I couldn’t figure out how to get my cat food out of the car. I’ve already managed to accrue a slap tear in my shoulder from falling. I’m on my 5th time filing for SSDI and super migraine needs to be added to diagnostic coding and the SSDI blue book. The stigma needs corrected for us rare sufferers.

Yeh, I get cluster headaches, I almost want everyone to experience them just once so they understand what it is I have to deal with over and over again, it's not really possible to describe that amount of pain in words, you have to experience it to understand. Anyone think that's an exaggeration please look it up and if you know anyone who is genuinely diagnosed (by a neurologist) as having cluster headaches please try and be kind to them.

Fair warning that this comment is not meant to dismiss these women's claims, and I am not a medical professional. I was 45 years old, working as a boat mechanic, I started getting daily migraines and dizzy spells for about six months before going to the emergency room. The doctor were to give me CT scan, or CAT scan, they're the same thing. This scan showed me and the doctors a large tumor in my brain. I disagreed with the prognosis and walked away from the ER. They were persistent though, calling me and asking me to see a brain surgeon at a different hospital. A week later I did and underwent a successful surgery that removed a tumor the size of a grapfruit, that is how the surgeon explained it to me. I was unaware of the danger that I was in, the surgeon explained to me that my brain was being pushed out of my skull due to this huge tumor. Layer I found out I had 17 tumors in my brain that were inoperable and I had to go through a month of radiation therapy and later started chemotherapy. I am still going to chemotherapy to this day. The point I am making is to listen to your doctors and if you disagree with something before acting on it get a second opinion. That brain surgeon turned out to be the top brain surgeon in the United States. Also, I know that cronic migraines is usually a lack of blood flow to the brain. This can be a slew of different reasons. Cancer may or may not be the reason. But ask your doctor anyway, better to catch it before it gets worse. Thank you for reading my story. I wish everyone the best.

I have familial hemiplegic migraines that last for days and one time I had them for four months with no rest in between. The doctors couldn’t figure out how to stop them. I was scared and in pain. I’m coming off to of one that started almost a week ago and I still feel weak, nauseous, and my head hurts. I was running a horrible fever with this one and couldn’t talk. My doctor said that if I go back into one that presents with severe pain for more than four days, go to the hospital. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on treatments that only work for a short time. I’ve lost jobs, homes, vehicles, friends, and family time due to them.

Same! Welcome to hell, right? I haven’t been able to work for 5 years and the crap we have to put up with is beyond comprehension of 99% of people. ADA won’t cover accommodation either.

Another great certification which trains the instructor in how to teach is Open the Door to Tai Chi. I went with this one because it is physiology based & done through the Functional Aging Institute (organization for certified personal trainers).

Miss you, MaryLou! The MFM parent support group was an invaluable support for me when I began this journey of parenting a teen with migraine. While I was struggling to learn more about the disease and get my son the help he needed, I felt so supported by this group. When I heard other parents' stories I felt less isolated and alone, and we often shared new treatments and suggestions in the group. I highly recommend it for anyone struggling with the distress and frustration in dealing with a child with migraine disease. 💜
