What a fucking narcissistic approach. You angered the person and you’re not responsible? Talk about making the world a more broken place.

What do you do when someone presents things as facts which are actually opinions? How do you tell them their facts are not facts without being disagreeable?

My problem is, some of the racism are indirect and thy block your growth. ppl are ready to make mistakes at workplace just to point out or bring down your values.

Understanding does mean agreement to an opinion or feeling. Check the Marriam Webster definition. EX: I understand and agree that Gregg Popovich has 5 NBA Titles as the San Antonio Spurs head coach . He won it all in 1999 vs the New York Knicks, 2003 vs New Jersey Nets, 2005 vs Detroit Pistons, 2007 vs Cleveland Cavaliers, and 2014 vs Miami Heat. I don't have to like that Pop has 5 rings and I can not disagree and deny that because it is factual and truth. Understand is the opposite of deny and disagreement. You can't understand and disagree with facts.

I recently had my best friend misinterpret something I said in a way that would never have even occurred to me. I meant something as a joke and they took it as a deep insult. Suddenly, this person was enraged, screaming epithets at me and going for my core being. I had inadvertently triggered something very damaged, irrational and filled with hate. I did apologize, but the apology was thrown aside as insincere. Everything I said was considered a lie. Again, I had uncovered something very raw and vicious in this person. It was so bad that I was physically scared of this person and I went home that night afraid to sleep. Later, I wrote a letter to this friend saying I was now afraid of them and had never encountered such rage before. In past circumstances with this friend, I had seen him go from friend to enemy in 1 day. He would ghost people and throw them overboard. I should have been warned that my turn would come, but we had been very good friends for 4 years. But now he has blocked me totally and I am actually going through a grieving process, while he has undoubtedly moved on to someone else who will eventually "betray" or disappoint him, resulting in another vicious rage. I fear for his girlfriend's safety, but there's nothing I can do. My body is shaking and I feel slightly unwell from this. My right ear has been ringing loudly for a couple weeks since this happened (unconscious jaw tightening?). Trust me, dealing with true rage is not as easy as you make it in this video.

This a great advice. I’m wonder what to do when I try to ask these questions in a non confrontational tone and being met with defensiveness. As in the person is already perceiving that I am trying to correct them by asking about their sources or by stating what I read. Thanks!

There is an elderly man who usually brings his Android phone to me so that I help him concerning a particular setting. Disappointedly, he is never thankful but ride. yells at me and speaks condescendingly to me when he needs my help. How do I stop tolerating such nonsense and respect myself in that regard?

I would like to add some feedback to this insight. I can absolutely appreciate what you are saying here. Ideally, this would be very awesome and would disarm the person from being so aggressive and or defensive. In practice, it often upsets the person receiving this question. Others often take this as patronizing and diminishing their lived experiences. Even when asked earnestly, I would advise against using this particular phrase as it does often place them into a situation to explain what is potentially an irrational argument and that often leads to heavy opposition. If someone wants to use this phrase, I would recommend using it when it is likely the argument is not one from emotion. If the other side's opinion is anecdotal or rooted in fact, or misinterpretation of fact, they have more likelihood to respond positively to this. I hope this opinion helps some others in their quest to listen to others.
