I think the most important thing that the films completely missed like you said is a lot of the true personalities of a lot pf the characters especially ron, ginny, snape, draco the mauraders and any others

Sorry I get really passionate about harry potter but something that you kind of touched on with the mauraders that I would love to see is seeing all the different friendships especially the different trios the golden, silver, bronze and legend trios and the mauraders we don't get enough of them in the films and it's so important to the books

Deffo get either a reputable quartz, or an entry level automatic - seiko is usually a good place to start
