Great video however you did stop short, when you said it traces back to an original enrolled ancestor, and failed to make a extremely important point regarding Blood Quantum. By saying it that way it gives two very false impressions. It assumes that every original enrolled ancestor was a "Full Blood." And thats not true. But irregardles of what Blood quantum the Indian Agent ascribed to the individual American Indian, that process was entirely based on phenotype. So if a Indian Agent had little to no family history on the individual, and even when they did, the agent would just decide/guess that the person was a Full or a 1/2 or a 1/4 and 1/8... Totally and completely made up, fabrication based on appearance. Its all important to point out that when we do go back to the origins of this policy of Blood Quantum, we see it entirely made up. 100% unscientific, and that should matter!!!! My biggest concern is the apparent lack of awarness in regards to the hypocrisy of saying that the europeans imposed the system of blood Quantum on Natives and that the US Government sets the criteria for who is eligible for benefits and then say "Native Nations are Soveriegn". Thats talking out of both sides of your mouth, they can not both be true. You say "They (the Tribes) have the final say when it comes to decisions about Blood Quantum and Citizenship." Thats NOT true. The country of Greece does not tell the country of France who is French nor how to determine who is eligible for membership, if American Indian nations were truly soveriegn they would set their own terms & still be eligible for benefits, IHS... but thats not true, Indian Nations can say that anyone is eligible for tribal membership, however, ONLY those members with CDIB and who are a 1/4 or above are eligible for benefits from the US government, so who is telling who what the terms and conditions are, the US government tells the tribes. NOT as it should be, the other way around, with tribes telling the US Government who is eligible.

I have acquired money from my 1/3 of ownership from a house on Lake Champlain in northern NY State. I am unable to return the land to the indigenous people from whom it was taken. I desire to give the money that I have acquired back to the native people who still live on nearby land. Would this gesture be considered forming a partnership? I plan to research the nations in northern NY near the land I had previously owned. I want to do it in the most respectful way. Is there any advice you can give me?

I met him at one of our arts & craft festivals. He was a special guest invited to meet & greet. I had a bbq booth setup and just closed up. I had set aside some ribs for my family. They were set up at another booth making fry bread. Dallas Goldtooth came around asking if they knew if the bbq guys were still open. I told him we had closed up but we had some set aside that he was more than welcome to join us. So we sat there and ate ribs & frybread with him. I offered him & his son a soda. Very chill guy.

Divide and conquer doesnt historically work. German states unified and conquered... what if all 574 states unified into one giant sovereign country inside the USA... and then asked for full sovereignty 😂

" ......to do the best for OUR people ." Those were the most Stand-Alone words I heard spoken in this session . Everything spoken was important , but those seven words , are , and will always be , Good Medicine ! When a true "true-blood" is quiet and still enough , we hear our ancestors' speak to us their heart's desires and guidance of Truth . We know we shall remain ....... but let us also remain true to ourselves , our People , our ancestors , and our inherited sovereignty . To all things there is a season . THIS is OUR season ! Thank you for the opportunity to share upon my views , as well as my Native pride . Oklahoma sends her love . A'ho !

I agree with blood quantum. How can you say you are Native American if you are 1/8 Native American? You aren’t even from there anymore and it probably hasn’t affected your life.

It was never intended to be a DNA test, it was only a method for the federal govt not to support the immigrants, but it was self-colonized by them into a primary ID.

A discussion on blood degree is a needed topic. Every tribe has their own customary law. For the lakota, it was only to identify the immigrant squawman and his wife and kids who were illegally receiving treaty benefits, today understood as HEW. Still happening. It was the immigrant squawman's wife and family who advocated the illegal IRA govt over the consensus based lakota govt. The IRA now usurps the treaty guaranteed sedentary economy intended to replace the mobile buffalo economy. The immigrant squawman pry never hunted a single buffalo or killed one soldier lol to receive benefits intended for the sovereign lakota if they quit fighting and hunting buffalo. Today the IRA creates economic apartheid and daily severe poverty rooted economic and other human rights violations for all the others, except themselves. Customary law is still very valid. Thanks ppl, do more, create a dialogue.

Tha´s really messed up. Like, seriously. I´m sorry if you have to go through that. For a long time, in Mexico, the law required that a person's civil registry indicate if he or she was "Non-Indigena", and from that, he or she received greater benefits. There is still a lot of discrimination against indigenous people in Mexico, but the goberment and the media try to be more "discreet" about it.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Ever heard of a spoof? We openly acknowledge that Hot Ones did it first, and we are putting an Indigenous twist on their work.
