As someone said previously it seems there’s no escape from morons that have to find a problem out of nothing simply to spoil a peaceful night in quiet bit of the countryside

Out of all the UK's national parks the peak district is unfortunately the worst. Not due to a lack of beauty, but due to the problems that almost always arise. People like those you faced in this event are the way they are because they have had bad experiences with campers and other tourists, those few bad apples have made those people be overly guarded and even aggressive to tourists. Then there are the travelers and general criminal scum from nearby cities that go out there just to commit crime, robbing cars and houses making the peak district one of the least safe parks to go visit and camping overnight. Car crime being the biggest problem.

No clue about what? How to do washing 🤣What a strange comment, it's not like we were putting them in to clean them - just to test the machine. Some folk have nothing better to do 🤯

I do a bit of wild camping and frankly, this is the only thing that worries me. I’ve never been unlucky so far, but it just proves to me that the only thing to worry about really, is other people 👍

Lots of Fascist types like that live in the Peaks. Im from there. They pretend public paths and public roads are private and deliberately remove and obscure signs. They even build on and gate off public areas. Nothing is really done about it. I would suggest sending gps coordinates and photo evidence of such areas to the relevant authorities and post about it on Rambler Community forums. Ramblers have more clout that van lifers.

said it loads of times, go back to when i was younger (25years ago) camping caravaning etc was for people who enjoyed outdoor life etc. now its full of either middle class twats who want to "have a cheeky cheap break away" or chavs who again use it for an excuse to go and have a piss up loud music get away all on the cheap. this drives up the cost for the normal people who used to go camping. and then drives locals (as you seen) to get pissed off with people who do not cause any issues because they have had issues in the past with either campers/campercaners etc. shame really people started influencing it as its opened up a world people didnt know existed untill covid happened and they couldnt get away abroad and had to stay in the uk.

What I have most enjoyed about your trip is that you have shown us the side roads and little places that are not on the tourist map, and so we see sites and places not frequented by the "mobs" and which are far more interesting ! 💙🦋

Also just a friendly word, regarding your childs privacy I dint think you need to mention " his meds" for the world to know about. Safe travels and hugs from Downunder ❤

I think the attitude to people with campers is generated by a certain Irish community that dont give a shit about anybody or the law.

Instinctively you want to standup for yourself and defend your rights . As a woman that’s what I would do . But !!! I don’t want my children to be a reflection of my behaviour. So Changing my mentality and not let other peoples bad behaviour affecting my inner peace. silence is the best way to protect intellectual integrity , the intelligent people do not need approval, to know their value. My grandmother used to say the backside is yet the best answer . They hate when you nod , they hate the silence . Walking away is the best solutions . For van life never open the door , getting a loud siren 🚨to be placed out side the van , aswell as Floodlights around the van . Not draw attention. Plenty of other safety tips on KZbin and safe van life . Nice family by the way

I would genuinely share their faces, if they’re happy to do that to a family in a van on a public road then they should be shown and shamed for it. Utterly disgusting and entitled behaviour. You have every right to park there as long as the vehicle is road legal.
@traveling-taylorsАй бұрын
Always Road legal, just not our thing. Leave it to Karma as I don't think they feel shame. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)

seems like a scene out of the old Clint Eastwood move, glad you stood your ground that man is dangerous, and you were in control, he is a flake and you might have just saved your families life. The man and woman were very wrong and this could have ended up bad, you were in the right, next time call police but her pics of those two. and any details

I don't have the space unfortunately - we have moved to a much smaller place, plus it was a labour of love. I saw a guy the other day in one of the groups. He just made his mould out of insulation - I thought what a great idea, lay straight over sand back and paint.
@WaddellyАй бұрын
Don't feel ill about losing your cool, i wouldn't even call it that whatsoever; you were not losing your cool, you were protecting your family and you did so much more reasonably than most would have. It's a true and great shame that these people acted like this for no reason and they had no right. They are incredibly lucky that you blurred out their identities, they invaded your privacy and space and should have had the same done to them.

Some people just think they own everything. I wouldn't have bothered interacting with them, better to just drive off, one of the big benefits of van life.
@BevAMorrisАй бұрын
You state you try to stay away from people and then park your van at the end of someone's driveway. I wouldn't have come out, I would have called the police to come have you move. In the UK, people who don't own property feel free to park, walk, cycle on property that someone else owns and pays taxes on. People who own homes, worked to pay for them and your need to camp on their doorstep should not be tolerated. Find a camper park so others don't feel threatened in the homes they bought and paid for. You shouldn't be camping on public roads either, what craziness is this?
@traveling-taylorsАй бұрын
You obviously haven't watched this video or any others. WE OWN our own property, not the bank through mortgage. We pay our taxes - All of them AS DOES anyone else in the UK. We are Taxed on everything. Income, Food, Fuel, Road, Insurance, All the stealth taxes. When I owned my own business and employed several people I paid Corp tax and employers contributions. I have paid more tax in my life than I would even like to add up. As for parking on a drive way I think you need to watch and pay attention before posting your preconceived Judgements. Thanks though Oh P.S I pay my road tax so can park where I want. I choose to park away from folk because to many are like you and think you own the land

I think you showed great restraint . You don’t look like a small bloke so I’m sure you can handle yourself . I know for a fact I would have gone ballistic . I know these people prob get annoyed at people parking close by where they live and making noise . But you can’t bang on peoples doors in middle of the night . Where they feel vulnerable Could have ended up very nasty . So you did very well diffusing the situation .

You definitely didn't deserve to be spoken to in that way - especially around your wife and young fellow. I think you handled the old coot rather well. The way he stood there, eyes bulging, swearing and carrying on like an overgrown toddler, all because you weren't intimidated by his equally rude and bullying cow of a wife! It's a PUBLIC ROAD FFS! They don't own the bloody thing. And he's screaming about you "disrespecting my wife" while screaming and swearing abuse in front of a child is rather ironic. You shouldn't have had to move, but you did the right thing for Maximus, and that's all that really matters. He needs to see his dad being the strong protector he needs, not two grown men coming to blows. Extremely well handled. Me, on the other hand? This 5ft 6 , 60kg middle aged woman, would've got out and put him on his ass! Taekwondo lessons as a kid still come in handy sometimes! 😁 Sending love to yourselves and Maximus, all the way from Australia. 😘💖🇭🇲
