A blender will absolutely work! I would buy a cheap blender dedicated to just the sofrito bc the smell and flavor will NEVER come out 😂 nothing worse than sofrito flavor on something that’s not supposed to taste like sofrito

Thank you Erica! I haven't had canoes since I left Brooklyn decades ago! Now that I know how to make it, I WILL! I was wondering if you ever make "pastelles"? I may be spelling it wrong but it sounds like "pah tell ay". It's a seasoned meat mixture inside a plantain batter and wrapped up in banana leaves and tied like a little square package and then boiled. When it's done, it looks like a kinish made out of gelatine.😅 You know what I'm talking about? I know it's a lot of work, we only got it at Easter and Christmas cause it was so much work you had to make a lot of it! Well, I'll keep watching your channel for it! Thanks again for this one though! ✌️

Hi Margarita! That’s a really great question! So the Puerto Rican cheese is a pretty neutral tasting cheese, meaning it’s not really funky but it does have a bit of a slightly salty quality to it. Hi answered this and tried to edit the typos in the comment but accidentally deleted it lol. I don’t have a traditional pernil recipe yet but in my arroz con gandules video i also make quick everyday easy pernil chunks, great recipe to add to your weeknight meals rotation, the only thing i would add is to marinate the pernil chunks in a mixtures of crushed garlic, adobo, cilantro, cumin, onion powder, olive oil, oregano and a nice splash of pineapple juice the night before cooking (pat dry with a paper towel before cooking)
