@@CoffeeSlave01 Zodiaco is that the name of the group? About what shot volume can you do?
@CoffeeSlave01
@CoffeeSlave01 Жыл бұрын
@@scider2 Correct, Zodiaco is the name of the group. A single pull of the lever gives me around 35ml. You can add more by pulling the lever again during the shot - a so called "Fillini move"

Can I use the lever to choose different pressures and create my own profile ? or just control the preinfusion like you did and the rest is pretty much the same pressure profile ?

How do u compare the flavor of the espresso from the gs3 to the londinium ? And which one did you like more ?
@CoffeeSlave01
@CoffeeSlave01 6 жыл бұрын
I haven't compared them head to head but I think they are quite comparable except for the fact that you can change the brewing temperature in a matter of seconds on a GS3. I like them both in each their own way. I have a GS3 now and that's mostly for comfort reasons.

@CoffeeSlave01

That would depend on what to compare. The GS3 has many more comfort features - grind, tamp, press brew and forget. The L1 is much more hands on obviously. They both make creat coffee

Great video and mod. I know I am way too many years late to comment but I want to do something similar with my major. How did you get the funnel to aim into the portafilter? Did you replace the stick major portafilter fork? Also, how do you get the switch to work without the two micro-switches?I guess my question is, how do you disconnect that circuit on the board where the wires are on the bottom of the grinder. Very interested to hear your advice. Thanks

Is that a de clumping device in that doser?
@CoffeeSlave01
@CoffeeSlave01 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis. If you are referring to round silver thing in the doser, then all this does is preventing coffee from building on top of the doser vanes and the skrew in the middle. All clumps at broken between the vanes.

Please Help! I have a chance to get a Super Jolly for a REAL good price. Do you think it's reasonable to grind small batches at a time, like for a fine drip automatic maker? Or would I be pulling the doser lever a thousand times every morning??

Hi Eric. The Super Jolly is an espresso grinder and not well suited for drip.

I have a machine with a similar sized boiler and steam capacity, and i also use a fairly restrictive 2 hole steam tip, because it gives time to develop good milk texture. Although its slightly faster than in this vide. If i revert to the 4 hole tip the machine came with, it creates a jug of foam in about 15 seconds! which isn't ideal
@CoffeeSlave01
@CoffeeSlave01 12 жыл бұрын
@tetheledagmailcom. Good for you! It's probably because I was using the GoldPro steam tip which is much slower but the micro foam is much improved. This video was made before I changed the steam valve and wand. The later video's shows much better steam performance.

@hugecookiemonster. Thank you. This video is from before I changed the steam valve and stearm arm. This Giotto is from 2000 and a lot has happened since then. I have another video in here with steaming after the replacement. The newer Rockets have much more steam power.

Good video! Do the Rockets really take that long to steam milk? My machine steams in less than half that and the boiler is only 0.2 litres bigger than yours.

@jackal2513 Are you referring to what he does BEFORE tamping? If so, that's referred to as the Stockfleths move. He already mitigated the tendency of the Mazzer doser to "throw left" by rotating the PF during dosing but he can further ensure even distribution with this technique. It has definitely helped me reduce channeling "donut" extractions by producing a slightly heavier distribution along the perimeter. Also great if you downdose.

@adimperial. For more steam I would recommend changing the steam valve (Izzo ball joint valve fits) together with a no-burn steam arm. There's a standard no-burn arm out there used on the Giotto/Cellini Premium, QuickMill Andrea and the new Izzo Vivi/Alex.

@adimperial. The Vario and Super Jolly is superior to the Mini. The Vario may have the advantage as a multipurpose grinder for the novice (espresso+french press and drip) but as experienced user you would probably prefer a dedicated espresso grinder. The timer is great on the Vario but the Super Jolly will outlast it hands down.

I have a Mazzer Mini I used with my Silvia. Should I sell it and get a Baratza Vario? I'm kicking myself because someone locally (a caterer) wanted to trade her Super Jolly for a Mini. I declined b/c I liked the size of the Mini. :( I didn't know it was a superior grinder. I just thought it was a bigger version of the same grinder.

Great vid! I just bought the exact same machine virtually new from someone who used it a couple of times then kept it in his pantry for the past few years. Is $700 after shipping a decent price? (initially 900, but he took 200 off since I thought I was buying the Premium, according to his auction picture. I love your style and routine-I'll try my best to copy it.. It will probably take me 30 minutes to do what you did in 5.) ps: Why do you bleed the steamwand before pulling the shot. thx
