Don't use floor water sensors you don't want to wait for the water to be on the floor. Stop that from happening by have two identical cast iron pumps in 1 hole and rotate them. You should clean and service your pumps every year. Preventative maintenance is the key to success for anything in your home that is mechanical.

If you have iron ochre you really need to clean your sump pit out regularly
@TimithyGonneville13 күн бұрын
@@basementdefender1359 I completely agree however annual service cleaning on sump pumps even if you don't have high iron gives you the opportunity to catch any other issues that may take place. Can't tell you how many times I've done a service and a float was stuck or a discharge pipe was leaking or a bubbler pot wasn't draining properly. I've also come across sand in sump pits in Cape cod so it really depends on the land you're sitting on.
@TimithyGonneville15 күн бұрын
You should always have 2 pumps in a sump hole. The same pump y'd into each other. You use separate piggyback float sensors adjusted on the discharge pipe so the backup pump will only kick on if the primary fails. The backup pump does not necessarily have to be a battery backup setup. That would depend on your home and how and when it floods in electrical outages. I was a sump pump sales and service technician and project manager for over 5 years. Also you rotate the pumps when the main pump dies you swap it with the backup. Your backup pump is your emergency pump you want it to work just as well as your primary always. Don't ever use plastic back up pumps they are trash and can catch on fire I've personally seen this as a technician.

Nope you need a back up pump

Even backup pumps chargers and batteries fail, a lot of homeowners get a false sense of security after several years and when they need it, the battery fails because it won’t hold a charge.

Actually a backup pump can fail too, the battery stops holding a charge or was never tested. It can give you a false sense of security

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through guys. It is absolutely despicable that your insurance company wouldn’t have your backs right now. Around here, when this sort of thing happens, we have a definite protocol that we generally observe; I’ll tell you about it, just in case that helps you, and I hope that it does: Assuming you’ve managed to stem the flow of water coming into the place, Get yourselves a pump, and a generator if you have to.Pump that right out. Sump pumps are our favourite around here. I don’t mind that you may need to invest in a little extra length of hose, to move it far enough away from your home. There’s a blower you can get that looks like a giant hairdryer, without the handle. It is electric. You just set that up Once you’ve got the water level, gone, and let it blow that moisture out of the Cement or concrete whatever you have your foundation made of. Then there’s treatment that you can apply to the foundation right away, to prevent, mould and mildew from forming. I hope to heaven, that the damage is not too severe, and not likely to recur.❤ ps. Where are your buddies right now, And your Church friends? Why is the house not infested with Neighbours and friends and church members, showing up with generators and pumps? Are they all trying to deal with their own similar issues, or do they just not know?

@jagboy69Ай бұрын
@@basementdefender1359 Ironically the Zoeller N pumps without the switch! It's a love hate relationship. People seem to be having good luck with the resistance style external switches like Hydrocheck. No system is truly zero maintenance. At least with the N98, the switch isn't in the water. Why cant the defender perform the switching function instead of using a mechanical float? All floats fail, but the rate is higher with any mechanical float.
@basementdefender1359Ай бұрын
@jagboy69 we use those with Basement Defenders because we by pass the pump with our own float switch. We use the N 98

@ambersandstrom19726 ай бұрын
Now I don't know what kind of policy you have been paying for nor do I know where the water is coming from but I would suggest calling your local janitorial company that deals with fire, flood and hazard cleanup. They can help you navigate the issue in a way that's most compatible with your insurance and likely won't even charge for the consultation/estimate.
