i have progressing dry in each eye just got checked the other day. it seemed there is nothing i can do until it bleeds (wet). my dr was in a bit of a hurry so i didnt think of my questions until after the appt. ive had prk and cataract surgery in both eyes, years ago, and wondered if that got the amd started. my mom died at 69 so i dont know if she had it, i dont think she went to an eye dr. my dad is still alive, i asked him if he has it, he said he doesnt know but i suspect he does since his vision was going down hill fairly fast. then one day his whole eye was red but he refused to see the eye dr. so, now he just lays in bed waiting to pass some day. its very sad. anyway, my dr said he is “very worried” that in MY case, that it will turn to wet. so, that sucks. i gather there is no treatment from watching this, until the new meds are done being studied?

So injections also have the side effect of being blind,too right?
@ChristianOphthalmology
@ChristianOphthalmology 2 ай бұрын
Intravitreal injections, commonly used for treating conditions like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, do carry some risks, although severe complications are rare. The most significant risk is infectious endophthalmitis, which is an infection inside the eye. The incidence of endophthalmitis following intravitreal injections is generally low, ranging from about 0.019% to 0.09%. Even though the infection rate is low, the consequences can be severe if not promptly treated, potentially leading to vision loss or blindness. The main cause of these infections is usually contamination by bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis or Streptococcus species, often linked to the procedure itself or to poor sterile technique during the injection process. Non-infectious inflammation, also known as pseudoendophthalmitis, can occur with certain medications. This condition tends to resolve on its own or with treatment and typically does not result in permanent vision damage. Other possible complications include vitreous hemorrhage (bleeding in the eye), retinal detachment, and increased intraocular pressure. Overall, while the risk of going blind from these injections is low, it is crucial to monitor for any symptoms like pain, decreased vision, or increased sensitivity to light following the procedure, as early detection and treatment of complications are vital for preserving vision. For more details, you can refer to sources such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists • Patients - The American Society of Retina Specialists](www.asrs.org/patients/retinal-diseases/33/intravitreal-injections).

What about microcurrent? I’ve heard there has been some success with/ this therapy in Canada
@ChristianOphthalmology
@ChristianOphthalmology 2 ай бұрын
Microcurrent therapy has shown promising results in several areas, particularly in treating conditions like dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and musculoskeletal pain. 1. Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD): Recent studies on microcurrent therapy, specifically the MacuMira™ system, have indicated significant improvements in visual acuity and contrast sensitivity for individuals with dry AMD. In one study, participants who received microcurrent treatment showed an average gain of 5.4 letters in best-corrected visual acuity, with some participants even gaining 10 to 15 letters. The therapy appears to promote retinal rejuvenation and improve blood flow to the retina, which can enhance nutrient delivery and support eye health. This treatment has been approved by Health Canada and is considered a non-invasive method to slow the progression of dry AMD . 2. Musculoskeletal Pain and Knee Osteoarthritis: Microcurrent therapy is also being explored as a conservative treatment option for conditions like knee osteoarthritis. Some studies have shown potential benefits in pain reduction and improved joint function, although more research is needed to establish its effectiveness definitively. The therapy’s low-level electrical currents are believed to help stimulate cellular activity, potentially reducing inflammation and promoting healing in affected tissues . While microcurrent therapy is still being studied, it is gaining recognition for its potential in various therapeutic areas, including eye health and pain management. If you’re considering this treatment, it might be best to consult with a healthcare provider to see if it’s appropriate for your specific condition.

Thanks for this presentation. Would you be able to point me to a presentation that explains the cases that are less frequent? I wear no contacts, got 3 bacterial ulcers in 6 months. The first incidence coincides with some gypsum (no abrasion that affected my vision) that went in my eye and with a ski trip (intense light reflection). I get cold sores once in a while. I only had ulcers in 1 eye. Would love to read a good source talking about can cause ulcers to start happening suddenly (middle age man).

It sounds like you have Recurrent Corneal Erosion (RCE) syndrome. RCE is a common, recurrent condition caused by abnormal epithelial adhesion to the underlying basal lamina. The spontaneous breakdown of the corneal epithelium can lead to the sudden onset of ocular pain, blurred vision, tearing, and photophobia, typically upon awakening. Conservative and surgical treatments are available depending on the severity and duration of the corneal erosions. eyewiki.org/Recurrent_Corneal_Erosion

@@ChristianOphthalmology Thank you, I will study this and consult. If I may, another theory I have is that my high sensitivity to the smell of certain scents of hand soaps, scented shampoo, and perfume it causing an immune reaction contributing to the appearance of infiltrates. Are you aware of research that proved it possible for a scent molecule to cause such a powerful reaction by the eye that an infiltrate or ulcer occurs? On each occasion, there was a guest in our house using a product with a strong scent. We have removed those products that have very strong scents but once I return to work (RTO) I will be in the presence of perfumes. Any lead would be very much appreciated.

Unfortunately the business being introduced here, Ace Eyecare (ACE) in Bakersfield, CA is engaging in what can only be interpreted as deliberately shady business practices. I believe the gentleman on the right is their CEO. He is not even responding to my emails. Ace Eyecare in Bakersfield, CA are flat out refusing to correct the defect glasses they happily charged me for, and they are also refusing to accept a return/to refund me DESPITE assuring me otherwise at the time of purchase und several times afterwards. Staff lied to me multiple times, first by promising they will correct all errors/prescription without surcharge until I am happy with the glasses. Then they went ahead and did the exact opposite. They refused to correct the prescription which the doctor had insisted that I should try first, but which I had already told her that I am not sure if this is the correct strength for me. Then, while refusing to correct HER error, they came up with an allegedly existing 10 day return policy that staff had never told me about before taking my payment and - stunningly - that same staff member was the one to refuse my wish to return the glasses the same day I had received them. -> So much for the 10 day return policy. Later on two other staff members (one of them being the supervisor of the location) assured me to correct the other (second) defect in the lenses without any surcharge. That same supervisor now had the audacity to throw his own promise out of the window and "graciously" offered me a 40% reduction on the regular price to pay for another pair of glasses to correct THEIR error in manufacturing them. This whole issue has been going on for months now during which they have proven over and over to be real good at running away from accountability, honesty and ethical business practices. Their last 'achievement' in proving their lack of integrity and trustworthiness was to "offer" to me to pay them another chunk of money for the eye doctor to correct her own failed medical judgement (yes, she is refusing to do this, too). Evidently they are pretty consistent in making the customer pay extra for the errors THEY DO. Of course, they only reveal this deceitful method after they received payment and after they lied to the customer. This does sound unbelievable, but unfortunately these are the business practices of Ace Eyecare (ACE) in Bakersfield, CA. It is worth mentioning that they do have the nerve to claim to provide "good quality eyecare", which is what they are promoting on their website. To be more in compliance with reality they should maybe change that wild claim to: "possibly good quality eyecare, after we get the customer to pay us extra for each and every attempt to correct our own errors". The following addition could be useful for full transperacy: "We do not hold our promises and we have no issue inventing new ones and/or contradicting our own arguments and alleged policies". I do hope people will see this and be alerted to this business' conduct.

Dr. Brindley's last words are an encouragement and blessing to me. May I face my last days as excited as he was to meet our Savior face to face. I saw a multitude of Heavenly Hosts welcoming him into Glory as he spoke. I saw the outpouring of treasures poured out before him as he stood in Glory land. I heard the voice of the Lord tell him, as he pointed to the vastness of treasure laid before Dr. Brindley, "well done, well done, thy good and faithful servant." To God be the Glory forever and ever.
