Just watching how I blasted all over the "place" in less than a month was shocking, I used what I talked about the other day, and although it actually took about 5 weeks for my volume to double, I just go'ogled Jan Venstaker's Shooting Ropes and her reaction has been priceless!

Typical dunning Kruger effect here. All those comments about pulling the legs up at the back as advice 🤦♂️ No! no no!!!! It’s a function of speed, you don’t want to consciously control this, it will occur by itself as a function of speed. Second massive blunder from this guy and whoever gave him the graphic that the legs is merely a passive spring to “bounce” on - complete rubbish. You need to actively push down the bent knee before ground contact so it smacks the ground at forefoot level to trigger the myotatic reflex a few milliseconds later for use at the push phase which creates efficient recycling of kinetic energy and energy from the brain as its a reflex controlled at the spinal cord. Third blunder, bone is not laid out “mathematically” it’s optimised by osteoblasts and osteoclast following the piezoelectric effect when the bone is loaded. Nothing to do with math. 🤦♂️ … there is more, I don’t have the time, I suggest the author starts running and test what he’s talking about for himself, maybe read a few intro to physiology books, anatomy trains by Tom Myers and lookup the work of Serge Gracovetsky on spinal engine on KZbin.

the fundamentalist creationists are recognising the moment in time when we developed language. before that point they have only the concept that "god did it", we can concede that the fossil record is the trail in the dust as god made man from the dust of the earth...? now we can find common ground and not fight

Wondering if there was an error in Prof. Wood’s presentation at 50:27…? He stated: “if there was a shift it wasn't from Australopithecus to Homo habilis, because Homo habilis has a stable isotope signature which is like Australopithecus, it was a shift between Homo habilis and Homo erectus.” Should that statement have been: “If there was a shift it wasn’t from Australopithecus to Homo habilis….it was a shift between between Australopithecus to Homo erectus.” ?? This comes up again during Q&A at 1:02:57 , and again at 1:07:26 .

Addiction is very environmentally driven and there is so much space to improve our environments in order to get rid of it that I would not focus as a collective scientific effort towards finding medications based on genetical predispositions but I would rather support community efforts to design policies that support healthy environments I believe they are much more effective and economic

In response to many comments that have raised questions about C2ST’s choice to use the word, ‘Latinx’, we would like to provide context and clarification. Firstly, we would like to recognize the validity of rejecting the many variations of the pan-ethnic terms: Latina/o/e/x, etc. We would also like to acknowledge that not everyone chooses to subscribe to these labels as they are all products of language created in often exclusive academic environments. We would also like to recognize the many critiques of the term ‘Latino’, the very subject of ‘Latinidad’, or Latino-ness. Further, we understand that these rejections seek to embrace nuance by inviting minoritized identities (Black/Indigenous) into the conversation. We recognize the many problematic byproducts of using these pan-ethnic labels as they seek to create a monolith of people, both culturally and politically. Ultimately, we want to recognize the linguistic complexity that is using historically imposed ‘labels’ on a diverse group of people. At C2ST, we strive to use language that is most inclusive, in this case, we wanted to ensure we were inclusive of all gender-nonconforming people. We will continue to hold space for critical conversation to be had on this matter at our next Inclusiveness in STEM program in the fall.

A very interesting look into the origins of our species. A nice bit of extra education late at night. The science has changed so greatly since I was young. Back then, the main thing separating us from the other apes was tool use. Now we know we are not the only tool-using species. I am blown away at the pace of knowledge that has come in, especially over the past 20 years.
