Sorry to mention that. But it is exactly showing the problem with the demo. At the start of the demo the volume gets pt lower.... If people like what they hear, the volum always gets up. Particular this animation with the girl 00:33 wich is really cute, the tune kills it all. There are two notes played at 00:17 some high note, wich should be a nice lead, but it is horrid to the listener... It's not POKEY fault...

Do you have a Sophia 2? Looks Like you are in 16:9 vs 4:3 is there distortion from scaling?

@@w1katari ahh ok. I just installed a Sophia 2 and have been experimenting with different resolutions and aspect ratios and 4:3 seems to be better quality than 16:9. I think 16:9 is stretching

I’m working on converting a PAL Arabic keyboard 65XE portable laptop conversion with built in U1MB, PokeyMax 4, Fujinet, GTIA Lumacode to HDMI, with 5A rechargeable pack and 800x600 lcd that gets 3.5 hour runtime off a charge :)

@@w1katari for one it was just what was available at the time for a good price but also it has kindof unique rare keycaps. I changed the rom out prior to the U1MB so it’s only the keyboard really. I am in USA so this is my first PAL machine. They are harder to come by out here. I saw your video on Sparta failing on the power bank. I had trouble with the flat lipo batter cells not having enough surge amps and the protection circuitry would cut off I ended up using 18650 cells for a 5a pack and it is powering everything including the display without any issues. Not sure if that might be related to the issues you were having.

Thanks for uploading! Great work - quite one of the fastest Doom Versions Ive seen so far. Nice to see someone using the original hardware (and to hear your tweety sing) - but upgrading with some audio equipment (Ive got a Dell aktive 2.1 System on the pure XL and one from altec lansing hanging on the expandet one) like an aktive System would make the experience perfect... I hope you carry on!

I taught myself to program on an old Atari 400 when I was 8, then I got an 800xl and a 1050 floppy around 10. I learned by typing in programs from Antic magazine and other computer magazines. Outpost Atari articles in computer world etc. I remember I couldn't' afford an assembler so I'd "compile " my software on paper , mostly just routines for my games I was writing for fine scrolling etc. The 3d game I remember was called Alternate reality and had a great soundtrack for the 4 channel Atari.

This was run on 1985 technology. Doom was released around 1993. It's amazing the advancement in fps graphics over the course of 8 years.

Q-Meg OS was a fantastic alternative to the OG Atari OS, especially with RAM enhancement. Fun fact - Stefan Dorndorf, who created Q-Meg OS, also updated the Atari 8-bit computers version of Star Raiders 🙂
