For novices strap in standing or sitting? I tried step in but seemed to have trouble standing on 1 leg and stepping in back foot. I do have those arthritis issues like you guys
@ShredAheadSnowboarding4 ай бұрын
Stewart: we prefer standing & it makes no differences whether the binding is a strap in or step in! They both require the same consideration; a spot where the ground allows you to secure the deck. We like to chop in the heel edge first while facing downhill and then begin with all the straps out of the way bring the back leg around to the toeside pulling the foot into the heel pocket to start strapping up! Because dressing sitting down can also be challenging depending on your stance width and length of leg bones not to mention stiffness/arthritis, which additionally isn't help by being in wet cold snow. Lastly you'll need to roll over to the toeside unless you're still very strong abdominally which isn't likely at our age? If we knew what your stance width is and your binding angles are set at that would help the discussion. Jim & Ted

@ShredAheadSnowboarding4 ай бұрын
@@Sleddog215 For me it is a binding that serves its purpose overall! However it was a little quarky and required a certain leg position to get out of that at times especially on the rear foot that was a little irritating. I had no problem getting out of the front foot, plus the high back was limited in adjustment. It wasn’t for me but someone who wanted an easy entry and not riding a lot might really enjoy it!

Hi, I see a lot of riders initiating turns slightly shoulders forward maybe 45 degrees. Maybe it adds more weight to direction of travel.
@ShredAheadSnowboarding4 ай бұрын
It can be but the question is; was it transferred fore or aft? Generally the weight end up aft ie back foot riding which does work but we want the nose of the board to be the starting point of turns. At this point in learning I am most interested in a flat board or slightly edged one created by alignment vice upper body rotation, which quickly becomes a bad habit. We'll get into steering starting with the feet later not the upper body.
@Frank0204 ай бұрын
@@ShredAheadSnowboarding Yes it could end up with too much speed. (leaning forward. and un weighting the back.) Then, they are trying to shave off speed. This could be a bad thing in uneven terrain.
@ShredAheadSnowboarding4 ай бұрын
Yes that would true, with the issue being timing blending the fore and aft movement this take time to learn, which is why early on I would like to see edge use.
@tedhillson72594 ай бұрын
When a majority of weight is either fore or aft or center, that creates a pivot on a flat board. The other end has reduced contact with the snow (or none) . There are a few people in the world that can steer doing a wheelie but steering the front EDGE will create the opportunity for blended control

Thanks for the very informative video, may I ask about the sizes you bought in mondo and the size of your foot in cm? I read in a lot of forums that Ride boots run half to one full-size larger.
@ShredAheadSnowboarding10 ай бұрын
I have generally bought my boots in my shoe size's some companies were a little small some were a little big it definitely varies a lot, no consistent sizing across the board. Lately in the Ride boots a 12/ 30.0 was a comfortable wear but is a little loose in fit after packing down. So I started to buy a 11.5/ 29.5 for a more performance fit tight at first but just right after break in, hope this helps?

Lookout is awesome and has upgraded a lot since I was there, and is still affordable. We hope to go there a few more times and then possibly next year this time might get the 49 and Silver combined passes, which would also let us go to Lookout a few times, and maybe Mission Ridge I think... i definitely have to make a trip ot 2 to 49 now... good video
