I was a fan in HS in 1957 while other teens were into Elvis? The talent and musicality is far and above POP music! The harmonies and skill is still above the skills of most pop music! Listen to ALL of their albums!

I first listened to this group in 1953 on the Hi Lo’s first record - a smaller 10” long play vinyl record my brother owned. I was already a fan of the Four Freshman as well as a barbershop harmony quartet baritone. When I heard the Hi Lo’s I could hardly believe my ears. Formed by Gene Purling while he was living in Milwaukee, he added a local Milwaukee barbershopper to his fold, and they then relocated to the west coast and added the final two singers. At this point they started their road to fame. I have been an ardent fan since 1953 - I do not believe their talent level, harmony accuracy, or difficulty of their arrangements has ever been matched - as of 2024. Jerry T.

Wonderful to see the great Matt Dennis, composer of "Angel Eyes," "Everything Happens to Me," "Let's Get Away From It All," "The Night We Called It A Day," "Violets For Your Furs," "Will You Still Be Mine," "Love Turns Winter To Spring," and "Show Me The Way To Get Out Of This World (Because That's Where Everything Is)." Tom Adair wrote the lyrics for many of them. The songs were favorites of singers from Sinatra, Bennett, and Clooney to Cole, Christy, Fitzgerald, and Lady Day, as well as the HiLos, Four Freshmen, and the great jazz soloists.
