Great movie, but, unlike Rosemary's Baby (also written by Ira Levin), there are too many holes in the plot. What happened to the robots after the husbands aged and died? As the children got older, wouldn't they notice how their mothers had not changed at all? What about visiting friends and relatives from out of town? Wouldn't they have noticed the lack of physical changes? (As well as changes in the personalities of the wives?) What happened to the daughters when they grew up?

A lot of these cheap movies just bore me to death.No substance at all.

Brought these on vhs from video village in '85. Remember it had an orginal, wouldn't say dixiland, but soundtrack that was very much in from 1916. The unknown chaplin from, '83 that does justice to the mutual studio period.

I wish people talked more about the theme of art as an expression of personhood in the movie. when Joanna is telling the psychiatrist about her fate, she specifically says that her Stepford self won't make art anymore to symbolize the destruction of her self I also feel really bad for the kids of Stepford. the robot wives won't be able to connect with their children on a human level. makes you think about how many people were damaged as the result of unnecessarily lobotomized or xanned out mothers

I think its because it was the 70s, but the ending made me laugh more than being creeped out, it is still a great movie

Wow 😢 proving the Doctor Shepherd Innocences were those including the cop, plus court system who didn’t care for truth. They hid VERY important information that would have set the Doctor free. It sounds like the adulterous Doctors actions was used against him, thus easier to blame him than prove who the real murderer was! The SON literally set his father free, as well as, himself.
