Next time, the key that turns the ignition opens the gas lock .take the gas lock off and take it to the lock Smith and have them make a key for that,it should turn the ignition to .now that everyone knows this can take the lock off and have a key made and come back and still your bike but I hope it helps anyone that lost there key be safe

Was nice watching this , just didn’t like the language you used, for a little bit, my wife looked up to me when u used the , shit n dam words, clean language is worth a lot , thank you. Takes a lot of take of to get to the key switch to unbolt, I was having a problem not getting fire to my bike, thinking about the switch , bad connection or what,

For one, cause it's mine. 2, this isn't even a desirable bike in stock form. They have great potential to become affordable Cafe/Brat/Scramblers and are actually worth more when done so. It's no different than getting rid of plane-jane steelies and hubcaps on your car and putting on some custom wheels. Everyone has their own opinion, though.

If you had loaded the bike on a trailer and took the whole thing to the locksmith, he would have made you a key with the lock still intact in the bike. Yep, they can do that!

You can also downshift without a clutch. It's just a bit more tricky, but it doesnt make a lot of sense for slow down, since you need to go on the throttle as you downshift. Makes more sense to do this for going quickly to a lower gear and pick up speed. Not so much for stopping, even though it can also be done for that. Its just tricky as hell. And if you do it wrong, you may end up speeding up instead of slowing down. So, there is that.

Hi I'm 27 and am looking for a cheap first bike. I was wondering if you think this would be too much to handle for a beginner? I'm very mature and don't plan on tracking or doing wheelies. I just really love this bike's design it's beautiful. Thanks and cheers to your bike!

If you want something sporty I’d say start out on a Ninja 250, maybe a 400. As a VFR Owner, I feel like it’s too much for a beginner to handle personally. If you want something a little more comfortable I’d say go with an older adventure bike or maybe a supermoto

you got the project done! would love to see a full parts list, i just brought home a rough gs500 and the switches are hurting. that gauge cluster is gorgeous! EDIT: Look up BACA. They have chapters all over the world. EDIT again: NVM, I thought this was your GS project. An update on that would be awesome!

Working on it, brother. Been super busy, I'm sorry. I know I owe you guys something on the GS500, and I still have the project paused at the last video update on it. I promise you haven't missed anything new on it, lol. But I will get back on it as soon as I slow down a bit. Life and work has been super crazy lately. Just bear with me and keep hanging on for a break in my life. I really appreciate it!

No clutch!?
@joemann7971
@joemann7971 2 жыл бұрын
You can shift without a clutch on any bike, even without. a quick shifter. It's really just about practicing and getting the timing right. I've done it on a couple of cruisers, neither had a quick shifter. The Honda Shadow hurt my foot since it required more effort to switch gears without a clutch but my Vulcan S is a peach to ride without a clutch. I guess because its DNA is closer to a sports bike/street fighter.

While all the locks take the same key, only the ignition cylinder has a full tumbler set. The other lock cylinders only have enough tumblers to engage with a smaller portion of they key.

Suggest a paint shop polishing compound - 3M's 3-step polishing compound or a one-step using the different polishing pads. Fresh paint and clear coat may initially cure in a day or two but it can take 30-90 days to full harden and it needs time to "breath". Paint wax is a sealer that keeps the elements out and also doesn't allow the paint to "breathe" so you could affect the durability of your paint job if you seal it up before the 30-90 day window.

I honestly don't remember the thread, pitch or length, but I'll see if I can find out. This project is in limbo for now, I planned to use the original bolts since they now have the nuts welded on. Give me a few days to dig around, I'll try to help you. I just need to get to the original bolts and measure them.

I picked up a 1990 gs500 a couple weeks ago for $550. Previous owner cut the frame but kept the seat. I wanted to put a cafe style seat but I couldn't figure out how to adapt the back of the frame. Your videos have given me some good ideas for this build. Thank you for the content!

Can you tell me how to unplug it? My ignition switch broke and I have a new one and just want to plug into harness without removing old switch and make a jumper and put new switch in one of the storage areas. It's a beater bike I am just trying to keep running. Was even considering splicing into harness going to ignition switch and feeding new switch?
