godot still good, dont worry about any drama, unreal is cool but its 100 gigs compared to like 100mb.. u rly need all that nanite or u just making a platformer? also c++, ive already learned gd/c#, so relearn a whole new language annoying but well worth, all the new studios switching to unreal so can get a job is plus, but if ur just indie, godot will do the trick, look at road to vostock man, i didnt know godot could do that tbh... i just use it for 2d/ simple 3d until i cbf getting back into unity lol, but jumping between engines becus drama is just a setback in development imo... gl with games lads

Yeah, I did the same, now playing with unreal. Unity is shady and Godot is woke. Unreal is also woke but it's big already, Godot is not, it's trying (and failing) to grow, because of that we cut it from the root.

I moved from Godot to UE5 but the reason was that I moved from small 2D android projects to big 3D with gtx1060 minimum requirements

my reasons to leave godot it's because of a bug with the cull mask in 3d lighting ,I made a match shader than burns and bends , and I had to cull lights from preventing the light lighting match entirely , but it was broken and the culling system works whenever it wants to, although I have the knowledge to fix it (I know C), navigating throughout Godot's source code is something I don't want to do. I like Godot, but this bug is putting me off."

And if you mention this whole controversy then you might also mention Redot, the fork of Godot that was made specifically for all devs to contribute to it without having to deal with a political community. This is just a suggestion, in case you didn't know about Redot and what it is.

@@tapo9478they're merging pull requests that have been ignored by the Godot team as well as new ones. I made a suggestion to add a sigmoid function to GDScript. Within a day, someone implemented it and submitted a PR, and now they want to merge it.

That's the entire point. A lot of people looked at the situation and decided that they want the core engine, but not the creators behind the engine. So, they forked it, and left Godot.

Because what do you want to publish a game on an engine then it comes launch day your game underperforms why because the game engine company posted some political and now everyone's talking trash and is mad and you find yourself in a situation where you're having to pick sides nobody wants to be in that situation

a lot of people doesnt talk about this but i think in situations like this the worst thing is you dont know what is going to happen what will they do because people in the heart of your game is sick in the head what will they do? ask for a cut like steam? shutdown engine because they are mad at someone? refuse to uptade? paywall features? vanish from internet? developers simply dont want their games in the hands of people like that

I was pretty disappointed with PirateSoftware's videos. He helped dispel some misinformation, but he ignored some of the main issues, and actually helped SPREAD some disinformation that the Godot company is pushing. They're trying to gaslight everyone by saying that the original Discord wasn't "official", which 1. Is only true if you disingenuously play around with semantics, and 2. Is frankly a red herring, considering the situation.

@@foxyprogramm Godot can eat its political stuff. It lost my respect when they decided to pick a side in politics. Godot may choose me and is free to wait untill forever. I'd just use Redot instead if I want an open source game engine. It is literally a fork of Godot that was made specifically so that non-woke devs can contribute to it.

@@Hardcore_Remixer in politics? As much as I remember, problem was only with new manager of Godot, which banned donaters for not supporting LGBT+ (or whatever). Engine feels just fine (as a tool), I don't care what happening behind as long as I can free and easy use Godot

It’s ok to have differing opinions. It’s what makes us great. It’s important to remember though, the other person you are disagreeing with is just that. A PERSON. People deserve decency and respect even if you disagree with them. This applies in all walks of life, wether you know the individual personally or only see them through your device, they are still people. To sum up what I believe King is saying here. Space Engineers while it is a great game with a lot of creative freedoms. It is also in some ways flawed. The gameplay loop feels unfinished. No amount of “shiny new blocks” can fix that as the problem stems from a logical design issue rather than any particular asset in game. As was stated the current gameplay loop stands as the following; spawn into world->mine stone->build a base->build some ships-> get to space->get a jump drive->collect all the prototech blocks. Then what? What purpose are we meant to utilize the new blocks for? Once you have them all you’ve basically “won the game”. Kings frustrated bc this update somewhat sidestepped this issue. Not bc the game is bad, but bc he feels there’s a problem and he has no voice to bring it to KSH’s attention.

You really underestimate how much money it takes to make a game and how little money the dlc is actually asking for in this regard Space engineers has one of the best monitazations for long duration develepment especially since space engineers 2 will be a free update You buy the dlc because you want to help fund a game you enjoy, this is the best kind of dlc a game can have If you want to look at bad dlc monatization look at stellaris Every dlc is at least 10gbp or more and some of the dlc basicly add nothing alone all while walling off huge sections of gameplay, some of the dlc even have minor bug fixes that really start to add up to help make the game run better too Space engineers dlc is litterally just reskins of blocks you get with the update, you dont need to buy it, its not there for everyone, its there for peopel who enjoy the game enough to want to fund it Plus when ever the game goes on sale the dlc normally get a double discount

"Why is it always: You want cool Block, fork out Money" Easy -> It costs Money to make the cool blocks. In Regards to No Mans Sky: No Mans Sky basegame costs: 60, you said something about DLC there, so that would come ontop of that. Space Engineers (WITH ALL DLC) costs: 70, where you can pick and choose what you want. The DLC are for what they are also fairly priced. I certainly dont understand your Frustration, especially I dont understand the need for this Video, no other game that keeps the development monetized with DLC keeps them purely Visual with no gameplay mechanics attached. This update is not just "Watered down MES", the Encounter you get appear to be much more indepth than anything i´ve seen done in MES. And the Idea of Prototech is not just different Visuals, the Idea is the gameplay Loop of actually scavenging them because you cannot build them. Also, what Frogstrfytr said, with Keen still after so long adding new stuff to the game and maintaining it, it definitely is worth something per year. If you dont want to, its fine, you still get the maintained game, and all the new Features. But dont complain that people dont work for free, thats pure entitlement.
