If this fish is 50 years old there is one behind it that is 49 years and 364 days and one behind that one at 49 years and 363 and so on and so on and so on..... Eat your Roughy the ocean will make more.

Stop eating this fish. They are long lived (130 years) and have very high mercury content, almost toxic and low in omega 3. They're very bland tasting. They reproduce very slowly and wil probably take a century to replenish. They will be gone if we don't stop harvesting them. They are a deep sea fish so only commercial trawlers catch them.

Please don't eat this fish.... it can live up to 159 years and reproduce late in there life, people don't eat this fish have some respect for the world that feeds you and protects you.

Anyone who eats this creature should understand that they are eating a spieces of marine life that takes VERY long and VERY slow to grow and reproduce. and any bigger size one is at at least 100 yrs old.

I go for instant cause I don't have the time every morning. Two spoons of hazelnut coffee and two spoons of mocha or french vanilla, then boiled water to fill 2/3 of my usual mug with the rest being filled by warm 2% milk. Maybe not the best in the world, but amazing for students like me in the dorm. Others love it too.

Every orange roughy fishery has initially boomed then completely collapsed. Even when there is no subsequent fishing pressure for a decade or more, there is very little to no recovery in stocks. Please educate yourself before eating orange roughy. I'm confident that nobody who cares about the future of the planet and has a conscience will have any interest in eating orange roughy once they are aware of what eating orange roughy makes them responsible for.

the new zealand orange roughy fishery has completely come back read this book* roughy on the rise*
@auscanman13 жыл бұрын
The orange roughy fishery is probably the least sustainable fishery in the world. The fish live to be over 100 and don't spawn until they're 25+. Worst of all, to catch them deep-water corals on seamounts, that may in some cases only be found on that particular seamount, that are decades, centuries or possibly even thousands of years old get cut down and pulverized by the heavy bottom trawling gear. We don't know if those fragile ecosystems will ever bounce back.
