I think it's really interesting how you came to write poetry through your love for words, Caroline, and the sound they make. Writing poetry is like playing with words, isn't it? I think I remember reading somewhere that Dylan Thomas used to love nursery rhymes and was inspired by the way they sounded and the possibilities they offered, in terms of storytelling and poetry. I think I came to writing poetry in the same way - it's all about the magic inherent in language, isn't it? Like you, I also wanted to go on to write a novel that was as exquisitely written as poetry - each sentence lyrical - but then quickly realized that I didn't have the skill! 😆 Think I'll leave that kind of novel writing to the likes of Ursula Le Guin!

You are both a poet and a storysmith, Teika! I find children's tales endlessly inspirational. I feel like if you boiled down and reduced my favourite adult novels down, you'd end up with the stuff of fairy tales. They're always there, in the marrow!

Thanks for that. Can we know if Mr Greene will be taking on Darth Vader voice work, or maybe general movie promo voice work in the nr future?😁

Really enjoyed this conversation! As I'm half-Latvian and keen to learn more about Latvia, its traditions and people, I found Dr Young's knowledge of Latvian history/folklore particularly of interest. Thank you!
